Mechanical Design Engineer LED Lighting


Location: Shelton, CT


Pay: $90,000 - $110,000 depending upon experience


Client is unable to provide sponsorship or relocation


**Job Description:** As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of mechanical assemblies in the Mobile Power and LED Lighting segments of the Broadcast, Cinema and Video Markets. Your role will include both individual contribution of mechanical development and participation within a team of developers across disciplines on a variety of projects. You will be responsible to ensure your output meets or exceeds product performance requirements and project schedule constraints.


**Responsibilities**

Work within a highly innovative development team, creating mechanical assemblies of various materials and techniques for professional lighting and mobile power equipment. Assume responsibility for the timely development and quality of your output.

Observe professional best practices of design standards, qualification methods, regulatory compliance testing, and documentation.

Collaborate closely with co-located developers in Chatsworth, CA, and Shelton, CT. Periodic travel for alignment of strategies and goals, brainstorming, and sharing tasks.

Execute design tasks including requirements analysis, operational concept development, mechanical design and development, design reviews, and general problem solving.

Actively participate in the design and validation of assemblies including metal and plastic parts

Employ effective design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly strategies to facilitate downstream fabrication and mass production.

Provide technical leadership for more junior team members.

Apprehend, apply, and demonstrate new technologies and methods to solve complex and spontaneous challenges.


**Knowledge and Skills** :

_Required:_

4+ years of experience with product development and working in a team environment

4+ years of solid modeling experience

Practical understanding of the physical properties and forming methods of various materials, such as steel, aluminum, copper, brass, ABS, polycarbonate

Experience in applying thermal management techniques to regulate temperatures of embedded electrical assemblies

_Desirable:_

Experience with SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Creo 3D CAD suites

Experience designing products for the Mobile Power and LED Lighting segments of Broadcast, Cinema, and Video Markets

Experience designing durable mechanical assemblies to be used in harsh environments


**Education and Qualifications:**

Essential:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering

A strong candidate will have an Advanced degree, MSME preferred


**Travel Requirements:** Possible travel to Southern California one or two times a year. In-office role at the main facility in CT most of the time, with opportunity for some distance-working
