Reports to: Engineering Manager

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The qualified candidate will possess a background in design/development, planning, as well as project management. Candidates should have experience working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to CNC machining and various fabrication processes. As a Mechanical Design Engineer you will be part of a team of engineers responsible for, but not limited to, conducting research, developing design proposals, implementing manufacturing improvements, initiating project requirements, and maintaining/generating reports.

**Responsibilities**

Initiate mechanical product design utilizing customer specifications, material selection methods, CAD, and detailed drawings.

Design and implement new products for testing and production to achieve desired specifications.

Coordinate with the procurement manager regarding methods of manufacturing and bill of materials.

Provide support to the machine shop and production department, where necessary.

Maintain standard operating procedures through communication with the operations and production manager.

Establish project/design documents throughout development stages for sufficient product support.

Participate is customer support requests from inside sales and applications.

Interface with marketing and sales to ensure releases of new product development specifications.

**Skills Required**

Possess a background in mechanical design from component to product level.

Technical knowledge of mechanical mechanism with the ability to problem solve and provide critical thinking.

Proficiency using AutoCAD, Solidworks or other 3D design software.

Familiarity with various inspection techniques and requirements.

Project management experience involving development and launch of new project plans.

Excellent communication skills for interfacing with technical and non-technical personnel.

Ability to work efficiently with others under little or no supervision.

Demonstrate the ability to learn new concepts.

**Requirements**

Associate’s degree in MET, Engineering, Technology, or related technology degree, with 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Bachelor’s in in MET, Engineering, Technology, or related technology degree, with 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

In lieu of degree, 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Other experience may be considered upon review.
