Description **MECHANICAL DESIGNER - East Greenville, PA**

Our client in the greater East Greenville, PA area, a manufacturer of a range of industrial, commercial, and consumer products, is currently seeking a full time, direct hire Mechanical Product Designer to join their staff. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for producing layouts and models, performing basic design analysis & calculations, and preparing detail & assembly drawings & BOMs. This is a full time, direct hire job opportunity with a highly reputable, widely recognized organization. **PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:**


+ Produce design layouts and models, including recommendations on optimum design solutions for complex and/or complete packages. Incorporate engineering standards such as material sizes, punches, bend radii, leg length, etc.
+ Provide expertise and guidance to answer questions about layouts and models, dimensional allowances, characteristics, best practices, etc.
+ Perform basic design analysis and calculations (such as weight and center of gravity) with accuracy. Follow good engineering practices and develop practical solutions.
+ Calculate part tolerances, virtual conditions and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure fit, function and economical manufacture.
+ Produce and check drawings for design intent, completeness, correctness and compliance with divisional drafting standards.
+ Prepare detail and assembly drawings and BOMs consistent with engineering department procedures and work instructions.
+ Provide support to other departments such as manufacturing, quality, etc. as requested.
+ Investigate and execute engineering change (or product improvement) requests, non-conforming material reports and supplier deviation change requests.
+ Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for design processes as well as products.
+ Develop and maintain good working relationships with team members within engineering and from other departments.
**JOB REQUIREMENTS:**

**Education:**


+ A two-year technical degree in CAD/Drafting, Mechanical Design, or Mechanical Engineering is required
**Professional Experience & Knowledge:**


+ **5+ years’ experience is required** , including exp. with **layout, design and detailing** of new, standard, or specialized products for production.
+ High proficiency in 3-D modeling and drafting required. Proficiency with **PTC Creo Parametric** (formerly Pro/ENGINEER) is strongly preferred (Will also consider candidates who are highly proficient in **SolidWorks** )
+ Product design experience in some combination of the following manufacturing areas, listed in order of importance: plastic injection molding, machining, aluminum die casting, sheet metal.
+ Demonstrated experience using ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards.
+ Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software is desirable (customer uses PTC Windchill).
+ In depth understanding of product function fundamentals at both component and system levels.
+ Knowledge of tolerance stacks and regulation standards.
+ Ability to organize tasks and manage time to complete simultaneous multiple assignments.
+ In depth understanding of manufacturing processes required.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
