Mechanical Designer/ Drafter (Mentor, Ohio)

Client in the Mentor, Ohio area is in need for Several Designers, Engineering support to perform drafting duties and project assignments, based on instructions and guidance from manager, supervisor, engineers or senior designers.



These roles are Contracts without an end date. The right person will be someone skilled enough to be an immediate contributor and motivated enough to prove their worth for a permanent transition.



Position Summary:

Support in design process by identifying workable design solutions and generating associative drawings using PRO E Creo software; Ensures accurate design, development, and documentation of manufacturing construction process for mechanical or electrical components and sub-assemblies to meet company, team and group goals. Will collaborates with design, manufacturing, and service engineers to create production-ready component and product designs and drawings using 2D and 3D applications.



Job Functions:

Preparation of drafting layouts for complex electromechanical equipment from design specs and Engineers guidance; Layouts to be complete and accurate as to critical tolerance areas, component requirements and placement, material selection, function, etc., as per design spec, Engineers instruction, and/or customer specification.

Designs assemblies for best manufacturing process for components of design as to feasibility, cost, reliability, etc.

Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of drawings in regards to views, dimensioning, conformance to company engineering specifications and drafting standards; assists in the final drafting checking function and aids in securing all necessary approvals for all drawings produced under his/her supervision.

Prepares complete and accurate layouts: critical tolerance areas, component requirements and placement, material selection and manufacturability in support of current products, new designs, methods, materials, or process studies.

Works as a collaborative team member in engineering projects.

Contributes to some ideas and concepts of designs.

Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing, Service, Purchasing, etc. on implementation of ECNs through the PLM system as to documentation problems and or manufacturing problems.

May be required to assist with duties involving resolving manufacturing issues that may occur on factory floor (testing prototypes, prototype assembly, parts expediting for prototypes, verification of new or existing products and other duties associated with engineering projects).



Qualifications:

Knowledgeable in Creo/Pro Engineer and Creo Simulation and PTC Windchill.

Experience with sheet metal, heavy steel plates, hydraulic systems, and large structural components a huge plus.

Proficient in CREO parts, assemblies, drawings, sheet metal, cabling/harness routing, piping, welding a plus.

Knowledge of Manufacturing processes and how it relates to design.

1-3 years minimum relevant experience in Drafting and Design (mechanical and/or electrical).

Piping, tubing design, machinery and / or appliance design experience a huge plus.
