**_Mechanical Engineer_**

The Mechanical Engineer will assist and support the Maintenance and Process Engineering departments including Mechanical and Electrical Technicians with tasks and assignments. The ME must be familiar with and apply standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.





Under the direction and coaching of Plant Engineering or Maintenance Manager, the ME will assist with engineering designs, develops/creates drawings and implements equipment modifications coupled with recommending alterations to equipment to improve conditions and quality of the process.





**Major Duties and Responsibilities**





Assists with machine process improvements



Relocation and installation of new equipment by providing installation drawings and guidelines to maintenance team members and contractors



Conducts meetings with contractors to ensure understanding of drawings and project specifications



Obtains job quotes and is the point of contact for contactors



Orders parts and supplies as needed to complete projects



Completes drawings (CAD) and documentation such as work orders, contractor forms



Coordinates project requirements with Engineering, Operations and contractors



Attends planning and improvement meetings



Must have the working knowledge of standard factory equipment, processes and machine shop operating conditions



Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by Department Manager







**Job Qualifications**





**Required:**



B.S.M.E. or B.S.M.E.T.



5 7 years experience in a manufacturing environment



Drives and promotes a proactive Safety culture



Contract negotiations experience



Critical thinking skills



Strong ability to manage multiple projects and changing, priorities (Time Management Skills)



Experience in managing materials and labor cost with department budget Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and communication skills



Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CAD Software





**Preferred:**



Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt) Certification



Experience in Fiber Optic Cable Manufacturing



Working knowledge of SAP



Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing/5S principles



Project Management experience
