Mechanical Engineer (Pittsburgh, PA)

Our client in the power/mining industry is currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer (P.E. license needed), to be based out of Pittsburgh, Pa. This position is a Direct Hire.


POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Mechanical Engineer with active P.E. credential is needed to perform basic technical and project management duties under the supervision of the Project Manager. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design, development and testing of all aspects of complicated mechanical components, systems, and equipment, including new and existing products. This position is responsible for training and mentoring others on mechanical design concepts, manufacturing techniques and materials including manufacturing processes and tolerances, and responsible for researching, recommending, and implementing new design tools and process for the department.


Position will spend 50% of time working in Corporate office in Pittsburgh, and, other 50% of the time may be spent at home, or, other various plant sites in the region (largest project now is in Kennerdell).


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifying deficiencies in mechanical processes and developing improvements.

Ownership of research and development projects.

Recommend, as well as facilitate installation and assembly of new equipment or tools to increase process efficiency.

Aid the engineering team in the investigation of product issues, root cause analysis, and solution generation.

Estimating budgets and time scopes for each project.

Writing technical documentation for machine operators.

Ensuring compliance regulations are met.

Developing, initiating and managing all phases of projects.

Collaborating with Project Managers for proper allocation and tracking of resources.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering.

Licensed as a professional engineer.

The ideal candidate would be organized, detail-oriented, and with a technically- oriented mind.

4+ years working in the mechanical engineering field.

Exceptional computer skills with experience in work management systems.

Ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
