SUMMARY
Prepares to conduct tests through specification of equipment, modification, assembly, and installation of test fixtures and control instrumentation used to conduct product testing. Conducts tests on shock absorption and vibration isolation devices and other products, recording the setup used and test results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Meets with engineering personnel to:

· Review test plans and procedures and interpret conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests.
· Initiate test fixture design by interpreting specifications, product drawings and procedures.
· Examines parts for conformance with dimensional specifications.
· Installs unit to be tested in test fixtures, connecting valves, pumps, hydraulic, mechanical or electrical controls, cabling, tubing, power source, and indicating instruments.
· Activates controls to apply electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical power and subject test item to successive steps in test cycle.
· Monitors controls and instruments and records test data in EXCEL for engineer's use and test setup used.
· Reviews test results with engineering personnel and assembly supervisors to troubleshoot and resolve design and test problems on individual products and production tests.
· Recommends changes in test methods or equipment for engineering review.
· Perform Design of Experiments either in the lab or on the floor and record results.
· Perform gage R& R studies.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides guidance and instruction to Jr. Test Technicians or Production Test Technicians.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Two years minimum experience in mechanical testing (prefer shock absorption and/or vibration isolation devices); a 2 year technical degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals, test procedures and plans, and other instructional material to perform testing and compile data. Ability to write reports, and effectively present data and other information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and engineering personnel.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to use personal computers and have a good working knowledge of EXCEL. Ability to select, setup and accurately calibrate equipment validating the proper test method. Mechanical aptitude, high level of accuracy and innovativeness to determine appropriate test method and required test fixtures. Must possess ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy, record information neatly with accuracy, work in an organized method, work from written and verbal instructions and work with mechanical hand tools. General knowledge of safety practice in use of mechanical tools, quality system standards, DC electrical principles, basic physics, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Ability to work with technical information. Familiar with use of oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, servo-hydraulic and mechanical test systems, and vibration test equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
