_As a_ **_Mechanical Repair Engineer_** _you will work with other members of the_ **_Research & Development Hardware_** _team to support the_ **_troubleshooting, root cause analysis_** _and drive issue resolution for complex mechanisms, structural but lightweight assemblies, motor driven actuators, and motion transmissions. You will provide mechanical engineering support, assisting System Repair members_ **_root cause_** _and_ **_troubleshoot mechanical failures within our Robotics System._**

_This role is responsible for supporting root cause analysis and driving resolution of issues. Additionally, a_ **_Repair Engineer_** **_oversees the production and refinement of repair process instructions for the robotic system._** _In collaboration with the Manufacturing Team, you will assist in refining manufacturing instructions with feedback from Repair Team members. This includes reviewing and updating as needed conceptual and_ **_detailed CAD design, drawings, related documentation, and design specifications._** _Key team interfaces include hardware engineering, robot controls, system integration, testing, software, and internal manufacturing groups._

**_Core Job Responsibilities:_**

+ _Provide_ **_mechanical engineering support to System Repair_** _: root cause analysis of system failure, troubleshooting mechanical failures, refinement of manufacturing, repair, and testing instructions._

+ _Provide hands-on troubleshooting, process, and manufacturing assistance in support of a rapid development cycle._

+ _Support the development, production, and refinement of Repair Process Instructions._

+ _Work to ensure we design safe, robust, and reliable solutions utilizing engineering methods with good documentation processes and releasing design documentation through an ECO process._

+ _Ability and willingness to work through all phases of product development from conceptualization to production._

+ _Must be capable of working independently and in cross departmental engineering teams._

+ _Be a positive, collaborative team member with a good honest work ethic._

**_Education, Background, and Experience to be successful in this role:_**

+ **_BSME or similar required with 5 years proven experience designing and building mechanisms and assemblies._**

+ **_Background in robotics or medical capital equipment desired._**

+ _Demonstrated excellence in mechanisms and knowledge of various types of motors, encoders, sensors, and drivetrain-related components such as gears, lead screws, splines, cams, linear guides, belts & pulleys._

+ _Mechanical analysis experience including statics, dynamics, kinematics, strength of materials and stress analysis. Ability to perform basic FEA._

+ _Experience and proficiency using CAD to design and document both large and small parts and assemblies. SolidWorks experience preferred._

+ _Proven experience of designing for manufacturability and understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, and 3D printing._

+ _Capable of making drawings following standard methodologies from AMSE Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning and Tolerancing._

+ _Experience working with vendors to select, source, quote, and procure off the shelf and custom designed components._

+ _Basic knowledge of working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment._

+ _Consistent track record working well in a team environment, learning from others, as well as mentoring and coaching more junior team members_ **_._**
