Mechanical Systems Design Engineer (New Albany, Ohio)

Our client, a Global Leader in Anodized Aluminum, both Packaging, and Decorating of anodized aluminum, is currently hiring a Systems Design Engineer to design and lead the development of highspeed automation equipment using Solidworks 3D Modeling Software.


This position is a Direct Hire. Their shop is fully integrated, specializing in design, fabrication, anodizing, metallizing, injection molding, decorating, finishing, and assembly of anodized aluminum and metallized components, including packaging.


The ideal candidate will plan, design, manage projects and support the manufacturing processes at our facility. In addition, this individual will work on maximizing efficiencies through improvements to the layout of equipment, workflow, production methods, and workforce utilization. In addition, the automation engineer will determine the parts and tools needed to achieve our set manufacturing goals according to our product specifications.


Essential Functions:

Write technical specifications for bidding and quoting both external and internally built equipment and processes.

Ensure design projects are fully verified and validated before designs are commercialized, this includes documentation; such as releases, manuals, schematics, PIDs, MOC listing, TWI, SOP, PM procedures, and spare parts listings.

Develop and execute machine and process capability studies through FAT, first piece and other qualification processes.

Management of factory trials, pre-production trials and assistance during launches, ensuring satisfactory handover to Production.

Utilize Lean principles and strategies to promote continuous improvement within existing machines and processes.

Challenging existing practices, processes and equipment to enhance quality and efficiencies and move the business forward. Visiting suppliers and other sites to understand capabilities and opportunities

Training and developing of employees as well as setting expectations for performance.


Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technologies.

Four plus years experience with at least 2 years of hands on experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Strong Solidworks background Intermediate to advanced level of competency.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.

Demonstrated logical and methodical reasoning skills to evaluate WHAT-IF scenarios to drive decisions.

Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal direction.

Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, developing and executing strategies to solve these problems.

Ability to lead projects consisting of cross-functional teams within the organization. Must be able to influence others and gain support for project action plans and timelines.

Strong communicator both verbally and in writing.

Able to create and review project proposals, including the development of System Requirement Specifications.

Experience in developing manufacturing processes, writing procedures, and training employees.

Good understanding of engineering drawings, BOMs, and operational procedures.

Experience with project management; involved in or led continuous improvement efforts to meet corporate goals.
