**Kelly Engineering** Outsourcing & Consulting Group (KellyOCG), a managed solution provider and business unit of Kelly Services, is currently seeking a **Mechanical Technician** for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients in **Santa Clara, CA.**

As a **Mechanical Technician** placed with KellyOCG , the below information describes the position:

As a **Mechanical Operations Technician** , you will work with other R&D Hardware team members to conceive, develop, prototype, test, and debug novel robotic systems per established policies, goals, and objectives. You will receive fundamental training on cutting-edge Robotic Systems and gain the opportunity to improve your troubleshooting expertise. As a member of System Repair, you will gain exposure to Design, Systems, and Mechanical engineers providing professional and technical development. As a member of the client, you will support our efforts to provide the highest quality care to patients we can provide.

Within System Repair, you will work under general supervision, following oral and written instructions to perform repairs on our robotics system. As a specialist of a small team, you will utilize your electro-mechanical experience to troubleshoot hardware failures, isolate damaged parts, and conduct repairs/maintenance within 72 hours. During the work, you will provide advanced troubleshooting and repair support to System, Prototype, and Hardware Engineers while developing our robotics system. This role requires minimal physical exertion, lifting, and carrying robotic parts short distances with the support of ergonomic equipment.

**Core Job Responsibilities:**

+ Utilize Electro-Mechanical technical troubleshooting skills to repair damaged hardware. Perform simple and complex repairs/maintenance on Return Material Authorizations (RMA) brought to System Repair. Assemble and repair various robotic prototypes and subassemblies, including projects with minimal direction.

+ Complete initial subsystem training and develop a track record of proficient troubleshooting skills. Attend required training, learning how to assemble, disassemble, repair, and validate repair (testing) of our robotic Systems.

+ Quickly familiarize and become comfortable with a Robotic in a Research and Development environment. Adapt to changes in manufacturing, testing, and repair instructions as Engineers continue to develop the robotics system.

+ Annotate actions/steps taken during repair/maintenance work using our collaboration applications. Identify when the instructions provided become insufficient for conducting repairs. Follow and provide feedback on Repair Process Instructions to improve the Repair processes. Assist in developing design improvements and assembly process improvements & fixtures for robotic devices.

+ Share knowledge and training with other operators/assemblers to improve function and techniques. Communicate status of repair activities and make any recommendations to project team members and other functional team members

+ Set up, operate, and maintain equipment/fixtures required to perform repair/maintenance and testing procedures. Install and upgrade firmware/software to robotic systems as needed.

+ Transport mechanical parts to and from the primary robotic system.

+ Initiate material requests (MTs) for necessary parts and support the team with general inventory management.

+ Utilize small hand tools and precision devices such as microscopes.

+ Maintain work areas, Research & Development equipment, and all areas utilized by a lab, along with other relevant individuals

+ Maintain curiosity and a willingness to learn

+ Other related duties as may be assigned

+ Maintain corporate confidentiality at all times

+ Perform other duties and tasks as assigned

+ Maintain an excellent attendance record


+ High school diploma or GED is required

+ Associates Degree preferred

+ Two years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or related role is required

+ Must have a demonstrated ability to effectively and communicate concepts to other individuals and teams

+ Attention to detail and ability to communicate effectively is required

+ Familiarity with manual machine tools (mill and lathe) a plus

+ Ability to solder at a prototype level is preferred

+ Understanding of fastener and torque tools is preferred

+ CAD experience a plus

+ Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance with ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820

**Physical Demands and Requirements:**

The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.

+ Using personal protective equipment to perform work when required

+ Lifting and moving products up to 50 lbs. in weight

+ Frequent sitting, standing, bending, reaching above the head, kneeling, crouching, walking, and stretching during the duration of a shift

+ Pushing and pulling product up to 50 lbs. in weight during the duration of a shift

+ Manual dexterity of both hands and wrists

**Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:**

The Mechanical Technician is a full-time, hourly position **. Days and work hours are Monday through Friday; work hours may vary between 6:00 am to 6:00 pm** . You may occasionally work evenings and weekends as job duties demand. **This role is primarily in Santa Clara but travel to the Redwood facility** may be required to support other manufacturing or warehouse operations.

**Important information:** This position is recruited for by a remote Kelly office, not your local Kelly branch. Applicants must be legally permitted to work in the United States immediately and without employer sponsorship.
