**Job Description**

1. Using fixtures and tooling, sew small components together under a microscope in a cleanroom according to manufacturing instructions, standard operating procedures and safety policies.

2. Perform verifications of manufacturing operations and line clearances for other sewers and record on DHR.

3. Work closely with in-process inspectors to verify quality conformance.

4. Record information on DHR (Device History Record) and maintain accurate component inventory.

5. Maintain cleanroom standards, practices, and housekeeping according to standard operating procedures and the illness and injury prevention program.

6. Responsible for completion of all assigned training, whether hard copy or softcopy.


1. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

2. 2-4 years prior medical device related experience

3. Demonstrates ability to be cross-trained and demonstrates good knowledge of component identification and documentation requirements

4. Excellent dexterity and attention to detail

5. Positive attitude

6. Good communication skills, verbal and written

7. Patience

8. Willing to learn and continue progressing in learning

9. Able to work in sitting position for long time


- Preferred candidates should be open to working OT hours. OT hours include weekday OT and/or Saturday

- Position requires working with the microscope for 8 hours/day in a Clean Room environment

- The interview process consists of a dexterity test and personal interview

- Dexterity test is in 2 parts

o The first part requires candidates to thread a suture into a needle, all under the microscope

o The second part, after successful threading of needles, a piece of material that is similar to tissue is taken and the candidate is required to perform whip stitches.

(the components used during the test are the same the candidate would use in the Clean Room on hire; the needles are more spindly and bendy when compared to a sewing needle; the suture consists of 2 threads intertwined to form 1 suture. The candidate is shown pictures of what is required of them in terms of stitching and how to use the aids like tweezers/ needles/ suture. The interviewer also guides the candidate on how to perform the threading and stitching)
