We are currently seeking a Medical Officer to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD **.**

**TASKS.** The contractor shall:




+ Work with staff on protocol development, including but is not limited to providing input on study design (e.g. rationale, study objectives, objectives, subject safety, etc.), conducting reviews of clinical protocols and all supporting documents, and providing feedback to the Respiratory Diseases Branch (RDB) staff and clinical investigators.

+ Review pharmacovigilence reporting strategies (e.g. safety monitoring plans), in coming safety data (e.g. adverse event reporting), review of clinical study reports, investigator brochures, advisory committee recommendations, package inserts, and scientific literature.

+ Provide clinical expertise in the areas related to infectious respiratory diseases to RDB staff and others within or outside of Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID) as deemed appropriate and make recommendations to RDB staff on key clinical issues.

+ Be available, upon RDB request to lead and/or discuss clinical design and safety issues with representatives from various groups (e.g. DMID colleagues, industry representatives, contractors, grantees, and safety monitoring committee members, etc.) either by a written report or through discussion and/or presentation.

+ Develop and maintain a proficiency in accessing and reviewing clinical study related information from databases used by RDB/DMID/NIAID.





**REQUIREMENTS.** The contractor must have:




+ Medical degree from an accredited university.

+ Minimum of ten (10) years of related clinical experience.

+ Documented extensive experience in the conduct of clinical research including the conduct of clinical trials related to infectious diseases (ideally infectious respiratory diseases or substantial experience in other relevant clinical trials), including study design (e.g. study objectives, endpoints, etc.) and safety assessment.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills.

+ Strong organizational skills.
