**Medical Technologist needed in Kalamazoo, MI**

**Salary: $55,000-$70,000**

**Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm**

We are specifically looking for someone who has a Medical Technologist certification but experience may overrule this if you have worked in a CLIA environment and/or that have done Covid testing.

This person will be working with Covid and must be comfortable working around animals- this is a large animal vaccine manufacturer.

**Job Description:**

The Scientist/Medical Technologist is responsible for providing information for diagnosis and treatment of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, experiments, and analyses. The Scientist/Medical Technologist will work with a cross-functional team of medical professional and scientific staff and will be a full time (40hr/week) position supporting both the Veterinary and Human Health Diagnostics Products.

Scientist/Medical Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform basic bacterial culturing, with aseptic technique, and prepare media.

Conduct tissue processing and / or immunoassays (ELISA, Western blot) with serum and other biological samples.

Perform basic molecular biology tasks such as PCR, RT-PCR, DNA/RNA purification and protein analysis techniques

Prepare reagents, manage and process clinical samples.

Data entry, verification and handling, record keeping, in accordance with scientific protocol and applicable Standard Operating Procedures

Demonstrate ability to follow a written procedure

Perform laboratory housekeeping duties and other general laboratory related tasks when assistance is needed.

Order, maintain and stock lab supplies such as common assay reagents, laboratory consumables, gloves, cleaning agents, etc.

Additional job responsibilities may include:

Assisting with laboratory animal work in the vivarium space (with training).

Conducting larger scale Immunoassays and DNA purification using available automation.

Assisting with GLP and non-GLP clinical studies.

Ensures operation of analyzers, spectrophotometers, colorimeters, flame photometers, and other laboratory equipment by calibrating; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.

Maintains laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.


The ideal candidate would possess :

Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills

Self-starter, able to prioritize and work efficiently.

Excellent communication (oral and written) and attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies

Microbiology basic skills: aseptic technique, media prep, basic culturing

Molecular Biology and Immunology basic understanding of ELISA, DNA, RNA and protein analysis techniques

General laboratory experience in microbiology and/or immunology

Medical Technologist Certification

Education and Experience Desired:

Master's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science;

Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological;

Associate degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent education and training;

At least one year experience working in a medical technologist role. The successful candidate will have experience working in a dynamic multicultural environment.
