Microbiology Technician
Midland, MI
Our Fortune 500 customer is seeking a Microbiology Technician to support operation of the Consumer Solutions/Performance Silicones Midland Microbiology Laboratory. This role is to help drive technical understanding related to microbial science, and will include:
Support group microbiologist in product release testing
Data analysis and trending of microorganisms
Provide and communicate quality driven results to customers
Primary Job Responsibilities
Work with production facilities to provide support for microbial root cause investigations through data monitoring and analysis
Support production transfers utilizing a risk based approach
Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting of customer issues
Perform routine testing, including microbial evaluation, membrane filtration, microbial isolation and identification, and available water analysis.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
Support upgrades to the corporate microbiological control program for emulsions across all key areas (Cosmetic, Food, Pharmaceutical Excipient and Industrial)
Preparation of test media
Waste maintenance and disposal
Job Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors Degree in Microbiology, Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences or related science field.
One to three years microbiology laboratory experience. Cosmetic/beauty care, Food or Pharmaceutical GMP experience is a plus.
Exceptional aseptic technique and good laboratory practices.
Good time management, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to problem solve and draw fact based conclusions.
A fundamental understanding of the concepts and theories around microbiology and the ability to translate microbial technical concepts.
Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate the science through the entire product life cycle.
Experience with rapid micro identification principles such as MALDI-TOF or phenotypic characterization and laboratory information systems such as LIMS is desired.
Understanding of US and European Cosmetic, Food, and Industrial Product regulatory requirements and guidelines is a plus.
