Kelly Services is currently seeking Molders, Machinists, and Furnace Operators for a national company located in North East, PA that manufactures of 3D-printed and extruded silicon carbide ceramic components that improve energy efficiency, recover waste heat, and reduce emissions for customers in a wide range of high-temperature industrial processes.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Molder is responsible for applying a limited variety of methods, procedures and techniques to mold products using hydraulic, robotic and/or manual presses or molding equipment to compact mix to shape product. The operation within this area consists of forming or molding basic shapes, (i.e., wheels, plates, batts, saggers, rings or bricks/segments) utilizing shop orders and blueprints. The Molder sets up mold and determines how the set ups influence the density distribution of the product.

The Machinist follows specialized procedures in turning down a delicate ceramic flange on an engine lathe. The part first must be inspected to determine which operations need to be performed. It then needs to be mounted on the engine lathe carefully, centered and then inspected to determine warpage. Last, two sides of a flange need to be ground using a tool post grinder to a specific thickness.

The Furnace Operator/Fireman sets up, operates and tends heating equipment, such as heat treating kilns, flame-hardening machines, induction machines, and vacuum equipment to bake, fire, temper, harden, or heat treat greenware, abrasive or bonded materials.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

Molder: High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience. General manufacturing skills such as blueprint reading, intermediate math skills (measure in standard and metric using various measuring devices such as calipers, measuring tapes, micrometers). Basic computer skills. Basic knowledge of a limited variety of molding materials and product characteristics. Up to 3 months work experience. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to repetitively lift/move up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Machinist: High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Experience using a lathe in production environment. Knowledge of dimensional accuracy and the use of dial calipers and dial indicators. Must be able to operate a manual lathe including setting speeds, turning it on and off, adjusting positions, using tool post grinder and monitoring fluid levels. Dexterity and attention to detail are crucial to this position. Must be able to reach lathe height of 48".

Furnace Operator/Fireman: High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience. Associates degree and basic mechanical and plumbing knowledge helpful. Must be able to operate equipment including tunnel kilns, periodic kilns, electric fired kilns, compressor tanks, fiber-bed system, fork truck/hand truck, hydraulic pusher system, calibration equipment and computer system. Opacity certification for EPA readings and compliance. Knowledge of DEP reporting procedures. Must be able to work around high temperatures.
