We are currently seeking a Molecular Biologist with the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD.

TASKS. The contractor shall:


+ Design and performs original molecular and cellular research.


+ Contribute to the design, building, and maintenance of a robust and flexible informatics infrastructure to support data collection from automated high-throughput screens and multi-omic assays.


+ Evaluate, test and implement new processes, methodologies and tools for complex molecular and cellular testing and research.


+ Develop novel methodologies and associated apps in collaborative projects with DPI scientists. This includes appropriate documentation to ensure reuse and reproducibility of work products.


+ Document research findings and maintain accurate logs and records of all experimental activities and outcomes.


+ Maintain precise and complete records of all experimental activities, to include methodologies, instrumentation and findings for future reference.

+ Input accurate records of all research activities and findings in in-house databases and repositories.

+ Prepare routine status updates and outcome briefings to peer researchers and senior program executives.

+ Prepare statistical packages of results and findings for use by other researchers and scientists.

+ Work with biologists and chemists to analyze and interpret various in-house and public large-scale data.


+ Provide subject matter expertise to senior scientists and program executives.


+ Maintain deep understanding of research methodologies and the latest trends and developments in molecular and cellular biological testing and research.

+ Provide guidance to other staff on the analysis of these large-scale data (this includes working with trainees).


+ Prepare results of experimental findings for presentation and publication.


+ Produce final reports and presentations of experiments and findings for distribution internally among researchers and senior administrators.

+ Lead writing efforts for and/or co-author scientific publications on project-related work.


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:


+ Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Information Sciences, or related field.

+ Minimum of five (5) years of experience in bioinformatics or related field.

+ Expertise in R, RShiny, Python, and Bash

+ Experience working in high performance computing environments and IDEs.

+ Experience performing multi-omic analysis (transcriptomic, genomic, metabolomic, proteomic)

+ Expertise in mySQL or other relational or non-relational databases

+ Strong communication skills, both oral and written.

+ Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.


+ Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
