We are seeking an individual to work as a Multicultural Health Communications Specialist at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.


This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:

(1) Provide communications and community outreach support to the Visibility Branch of the Division of Engagement and Outreach (DEO) within the NIH All of Us Research Program (AoU).

(2) Work with the AoU Visibility team members, AoU Communications Division and others to identify speaking opportunities and ensure that the visibility strategies are aligned with the mission and goals of the AoU Program.

(3) Responsible for managing the Chief Engagement Officers speaking opportunities (~ 8 to 10 events a month) with internal and external stakeholders, which includes accepting/declining invites, coordinating prep calls, event logistics for the presenter, briefing documents and conducting follow ups.

(4) Develop presentation slides and talking points that are tailored to the audience, impactful and in the voice of the presenter. The presentations should be visually appealing with graphics, include metrics when appropriate and real examples of accomplishments or efforts of the Program that aligns with the topic of the presentation.

(5) Conduct follow-ups with event organizers or attendees when appropriate; track all stakeholder meetings by stakeholder category.

(6) Keep track of impacts and outcomes from speaking events that contribute to the overall Program and DEOs goals

(7) Work with AoU Communications Division to develop social media content such as Facebook post to help amplify a specific engagement)

(8) Work with Engagement team members, prepare the division's periodic accomplishment presentations and presentations for internal meetings and provide support for any publication efforts in journals or at conferences


REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

(1) Bachelors or master's degree in Public Health, Journalism, Health Communications, or scientific or communications-related disciplines

(2) Experience in preparing high-quality, professional PowerPoint presentations utilizing master slides, templates, graphics, animations and the ability to simplify text heavy decks with images; experience using different graphic tools and Adobe Design a plus

(3) Experience in developing authentic and culturally appropriate messages and materials for multicultural audiences. Great eye for compelling and conceptual video clips, photography and imagery.

(4) Skilled writer and editor with excellent attention to detail. Experience writing content for a variety of channels including email distributions, websites, social media platforms, and other collateral material

(5) Knowledge of and experience collaborating with community-based and national organizations targeting multicultural audiences.
