We are seeking an experienced individual to work as a Neuromodulation Engineer at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.



This is a long-term contract position which offers:

TASKS/SERVICES. The contractor shall:




+ Provide hardware and software engineering support for all efforts in the NIMH Noninvasive Neuromodulation Unit (NNU) across studies.

+ Provide engineering and coding support for hardware and device interfaces.

+ Design, create, and maintain data acquisition and analysis pipelines.

+ Conduct data analysis employing machine learning and other data science approaches.

+ Provide hardware and software engineering support for the integration of simultaneous stimulation and imaging protocols employing transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner.

+ Provide mentoring of post-doctoral and post-baccalaureate intramural research training awardees (IRTAs).

+ Provide engineering support for the design and fabrication of novel devices for electrical and magnetic stimulation of the human brain.

+ Conduct realistic head modeling of the electric field induced in the human brain by existing and novel noninvasive neuromodulation devices.

+ Develop real-time and neurofeedback tasks using Python; develop data analysis codes in computer languages such as Tcl, Visual Basic, Python, JavaScript, and C++; generate Visual Basic controls for Windows Media Player applications.

+ Write code and create hardware that will integrate data on-line from psychophysiology and neurostimulation experiments.



REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:




+ Ph.D. degree in a related discipline. Three (3) years of specialized experience plus a Masters degree is equivalent to a Ph.D. Five (5) years of specialized experience plus a BA/BS degree is equivalent to a Ph.D.

+ Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related field.

+ Expertise with Python, SIMNIBS, LabView, and related platforms.

+ Expertise with neuroimaging techniques (including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetoencephalography (MEG).
