**Quality Manager-New** **Product Quality** Direct hire Salary + bonus

Kelly Engineering Resources is searching for **Product** **Quality Managers/Sr. Product Quality Engineer** on behalf of our client that is located **near Elgin** . Our client is an OEM in the **consumer products** industry and has restructured their business as a result of growth. They are building an additional Quality Division that will be product specific. In these new roles, you will report to the Director of Quality and indirectly to the VP of Quality. This is a fantastic opportunity for Sr. Quality Engineer looking to formally move into a leadership role. You will bring your strong background in Quality Processes & Continuous Improvement to execute a proactive approach to Product Quality, as well as Product Reliability & Safety. You will be an individual contributor to Product Quality and a manager to 2 direct reports.

**Essential Responsibilities of the Product Quality Manager:**

+ Use strong QA process knowledge to work directly with R&D, Design Engineering, Fabrication, Production and Distribution to develop quality standards for new products and continuously improve existing products.

+ Concept through production release - DFMEA, APQP, PPAP

+ Print release through launch to mass production - PFMEA

+ Post launch surveillance and monitoring of 1st year claim rates

+ Develop & validate process controls, control plans

+ Histograms, Cpk studies for process & part capability studies.

+ Inspection procedures, metrology selection, product test plans

+ Problem solving using Lean, A3, 6 Sigma, or 8D

+ Develop, maintain and analyze statistical data to determine compliance of present standards for quality of received materials and finished goods.

+ Create, implement and maintain inspection criteria for receiving inspection, in-process audits and finished goods.

+ Generate reports, internal and external business correspondence, and quality procedures.

+ Coordinate quality objectives with the production department to maximize product reliability, productivity and to reduce costs.

+ Develop staff skills and overall capabilities within the department and assist in the development of the skills and capability of the manufacturing department.

+ Internal inspection and auditing services throughout the manufacturing process.

+ Work with suppliers, when needed, to ensure the quality of all purchased parts and materials.

+ Implement quality assurance training programs within the department and assist in the overall training of the quality organization.

+ Participate in activities with various departments to support quality related objectives.

+ Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.

+ Support a strong Dock to Stock process with the assistance of Supplier Quality, Purchasing and the Production departments.

+ Work with other Quality Managers to improve the overall effectiveness and capability of the department.

**Qualifications of the Successful Quality Manager**

+ BS in Engineering or related is a hard requirement

+ Six Sigma training/certifications is a plus

+ Minimum 8 years progressive quality engineering and product development experience, prefer at least 2-3 years in Sr. Quality Engineering or leadership role. Experience should include:

+ Leading QA efforts for a new product development

+ Development of DFEMA, APQP with design team

+ Control plan development and validation

+ PFMEA for launch

+ Post launch surveillance

+ Contributing/leading to claim rate reductions, warranty reductions

+ Operational knowledge in any of the following manufacturing processes is required: welding, painting/coating, metal fabrication, assembly, product testing

+ Strong working knowledge of:

+ ISO/QA 9000 quality standards/processes including PPAP (level 2) required.

+ Metrology and measuring techniques.

+ Applying math concepts such as fractions, percents, ratios, & proportions to practical situations.

+ Advanced math skills in probability, statistics, plane & solid geometry.

+ Creating histograms, & Cpk studies for process and part capability studies.

+ Interpersonal Requirements and Work Habits:

+ Analytical capable of manipulating and extrapolating data

+ Able to identify and problem solve in a timely manner including developing alternate solutions.

+ Punctual

+ Collaboration style (internal & external departments) - Conflict resolution with blame, confidentiality, open to new concepts and ideas, open communicator

+ Leadership style: inspirational to perform well, delegate assignments/task with set expectations, mentoring/skill development of less capable staff, look for opportunities to improve & promote quality and demonstrate accuracy as well as thoroughness.

+ Essential physical requirements for the position: sit a desk 3-4 hours at a time, stand, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch on a production line to investigate product quality issues, manual dexterity to use metrology tools, listen, talk and hear in an assembly area, meeting room or stamping line, visual acuity (close, color, & depth) to inspect products, touch & feel with fingers to inspect textures on surfaces.

+ Ability to work in both a temperature-controlled office environment and a plant environment.
