Our client, a global energy company, is currently seeking an Operations/Asset Accountant for a 4-6 month temporary contract opportunity. The position is located in Houston, Texas.

Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (could be flexible)

Pay Rate= $35.00-$39.00/hour

Must haves: strong SAP skills and strong Excel skills (working with formulas and accrual files). Must be familiar with oil and gas terminology. Critical thinking skills are a must also; can't be afraid to ask questions.

Will work with capital accruals / operations accounting. Solid background / experience in oil & gas accounting is important.

Job Functions

Under general supervision, applies the principles, theories and concepts of operational accounting to assignments.

Focuses a large portion of effort on data entry and learning with some time spent on analysis and problem-solving.

Demonstrates initiative in seeking additional responsibility and gaining knowledge beyond core responsibilities, e.g., striving to understand the big picture.

May assist in developing and promoting sound recommendations that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

May assist with the training and mentoring of less experienced staff.

Other responsibilities:

Prepare, record, and analyze capital and expense accruals as assigned by supervisor.

Record Other Field Equipment/Service Ops entries.

Provide ad hoc accounting support for Asset Team field office.

Monitor and ensure timely settlement of capital projects.

Collaborate with stake holders on accounting issues related to assigned Asset Team.

Prepare various disclosure information for quarterly and annual SEC filings (Fair Value disclosures, Contractual Commitments, Leases, etc.)

Collaborate with Team Lead, Financial Analysts and Planners to ensure proper reporting of monthly and quarterly results.

Minimum Education/Experience Guidelines

Bachelors degree in Accounting/Finance required

Upstream oil and gas experience preferred

Minimum 1-3 years of accounting experience

Computer Proficiencies: SAP and Microsoft Office applications
