Description **Operations Planning Manager Position Available (Direct Hire) - Horseheads, NY**

Kelly Services is seeking an Operations Planning Manager for one of their top manufacturing clients in the Horseheads, NY area.

Job Description:

The Operations Planning Manager is responsible for the procurement of all materials utilized in the production of the Company’s products. The incumbent works closely with the entire team to ensure that proper levels of inventory are available for sale. In this role, you will be responsible for the master production scheduling of all branded and private label items.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Receive monthly purchase orders from corporate and schedule production of these items with both plants, identifying potential capacity constraints and assigning production of items that could be produced in multiple facilities to the proper facility.
• Ensure that all components (both raw and packaging materials) of an item are available when needed during the course of the month.
• Develop a 3-month rolling forecast to determine the impact that a schedule change, production shortfalls or incremental “unforecasted” customer orders have on future production abilities.
• Work with suppliers to develop vendor managed inventory programs.
• Develop “Supplier Scorecards” with appropriate KPI’s.
• Schedule production in an efficient manner, minimizing changeovers wherever possible.
• Monitor and minimize WIP inventories ensuring that they are packaged into “saleable” items (finished goods)
• Functionally manage the Production Planner and provide support to sister plants in other states.
• Identify short-coded and excess inventory and communicate it to the salesforce for sales before expiration of the product.
• Identify abandoned seasonal items (production or materials ordered in excess of actual orders) so that they can be liquidated before the related season occurs.
• Ensure that multiple bids are solicited on purchases above $5,000.
• Manage the warehouse operation ensuring that a clean, uncluttered environment is maintained and that stock is properly rotated on a FEFO basis.
• Must be able to work any/all shifts, holidays, and overtime on occasion if business needs change
• Must be able to work in Microsoft Word and Excel

Qualifications and Skills:
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain related field
• 3-5 years of directly related experience in supply chain or production planning
• Ensures all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times
• Valid driver’s license
• Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English

Desired (but not required) skills:
• Background in food manufacturing, quality, food safety or sanitation is ideal but not required
• GMPs, HACCP, FDA or SQF background ideal but not necessary
• APICs Certification desired but not necessary
