Job Type: Temp, potential Temp-To-Hire

Length: 7/6/2020 12/31/2020

Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day

Pay Rate: $35.00 - $42.50



**Position objective:**



The Payroll Manager is responsible for the overall calculation, submission, and payment of accurate team member payrolls. These duties include not only producing accurate paychecks, but also manages and verifies all payroll related payments, including 3rd party payments of pre and post-tax deductions and payroll taxes. This position works closely with Talent Strategy to verify and record all team member changes.



**ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**


**Typical work-related activities include:**


**Payroll Vendor Management:**

Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions

Processes, audits and corrects timesheets; makes retroactive adjustments in the system as needed

Process and report any involuntary deductions such as child support orders, garnishments, and tax levies

Works effectively with the payroll vendor to ensure system issues are resolved in a timely and accurate manner

Commit Company bi-weekly payroll and process check requests to cover net pay and deductions

Enter pay requests received for Company Education Assessment Services (AEAS) into Timekeeper and Oasis as needed

Process AEAS payroll on a semi-monthly basis


**Payroll Compliance**

Keeps abreast of current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with employee wage and benefits, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, payroll taxes, employee federal/state income and social security taxes, State Unemployment Insurance, workers compensation, etc.

Ensures payroll processes are in compliance/alignment with government regulations, laws, and organization processes, practices, and guidelines. Performs audits and analyzes reports to identify and resolve payroll, compliance and disbursement issues

Calculates and maintains Kirkwood Job Credit Payments

Calculates workers compensation where required

Review federal form 941 and other state tax reports prepared by 3rd party tax service, verify federal and state tax payments to ensure compliance with deposit requirements

Reconcile payroll to labor expense and record journal entries to allocate labor costs

Prepare and process other payroll journal entries as required; perform monthly reconciliation of payroll accounts in the general ledger

Create and run post-payroll reports in DayForce as needed or requested



**People Management Responsibilities:**

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION:**

Bachelors degree in a related field, preferably in accounting, finance, or business

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired


**EXPERIENCE:**

Minimum of three years of progressively responsible payroll experience required, including processing bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for a workforce of 900+ exempt and non-exempt team members

Experience using payroll software systems required; Ceridian DayForce application, primarily Payroll and Workforce Management modules preferred.


**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:**

Experience in using Microsoft Office applications.

Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work.

Must be able to work under multiple deadlines and pressure.

Must be able to research tax items and policies.

Maintain attention to detail.

Critical thinking skills.

Work with minimal supervision.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding corporate information.

Calculate gross ups and forecasts numbers.
