**Title:** PCB Design Engineer

**Location:** Farmington, CT (Relocation not available at this time)

**Pay:** $90,000 plus benefits

_* Due to the nature of work US Citizenship is required_

Summary: Generate schematics, design PCB layouts, generate assembly drawings, maintain Bill of Materials, maintain component libraries, order new PCB fabrications for prototyping, process ECOs, occasional lab support of product testing.

**Essential Functions:**

Join a team of R&D engineers to generate schematics and design board layouts for production and experimental electronics used in motor controls, motor drive and communication protocols. The primary tool is OrCAD, but future tools may include Mentor PADS or similar. Assembly drawings are done with SolidWorks or Creo.

Layout motor control electronics from low voltage DC up to 3 phase, 575 VAC and 8 KW in size, as well as electronics for general control and manufacturing tests.

Work in collaborative groups as well as independently, with good communication skills.

Be in communications with PCB fabrication suppliers as well as PCB contract manufacturers to clarify details and answer any questions.

Electrical knowledge is important, but good experience with mechanical and manufacturing is a plus when it comes to the actual physical design of the PC board.

Familiarity with high-speed digital layout techniques as well as analog circuit layout.

Familiarity with creepage and clearance distances for layout designs.

Take all new electronics designs from start of concept to production, updating control documentation.

May require travel to headquarters in Germany for updated CAD tools training and project database tools.

Support in the EE lab will be needed for help with testing on experimental electronics and verifying custom manufacturing test equipment function.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

**Education & experience** :

Minimum - Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering

Minimum - PCB layout experience - 4 years

Mechanical CAD (2D and 3D) - Solid works, Creo or similar - 1 year desirable

IPC 610

UL 60950 (as a general knowledge guideline)
