**Pharmacologist**


The Pharmacologist is responsible for planning and performing scientific experiments that contribute to research and drug discovery activities. The incumbent works cross-functionally with internal departments, and external resources as appropriate, as part of the discovery science project teams. The Pharmacologist supports adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures SOPs as appropriate.


**Job Description:**


With guidance from the advisor plans, initiates, directs, and executes scientific research and experiments and interprets and communicates results as part of multi-disciplinary teams. This includes:


+ Performing analyses of primary research literature.

+ Presents findings internally to cross-functional teams.

+ Abides by all safety and regulatory guidelines.

+ Maintains a detailed laboratory notebook.

+ Performs other tasks as assigned.

+ Abides by all safety requirements and IACUC guidelines.

+ Contributes to general lab needs such as: Equipment maintenance and Capital equipment purchases.

+ Troubleshoot Assists clinical research teams in the coordination and execution of clinical trial material sample tracking

+ Assist with collecting, reviewing, and tracking test reports and related documents

+ Assist with clinical trial logistics track site shipments/receiving and assist with sample handling/management


**Qualification:**


+ BS in a scientific discipline preferably Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or Neuroscience (MS preferred)

+ At least 3 years of in-vivo experience post BA degree

+ This contractor will work on rodent models of muscular and neuromuscular disease. Muscular and neuromuscular disease experience preferred.

+ Experience with dosing and injections

+ Hands-on laboratory experience in molecular assays qPCR, ddPCR, RT-qPCR, cloning Hands-on experience in immunological assays

+ Western blotting, ELISA, MSD, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, co-immunoprecipitation, RNA in situ/RNAscope, and confocal microscopy

+ Experience in cell culture, flow cytometry, cell line generation, and reporter assays

+ Assay development skills in a variety of platforms In-depth knowledge in molecular biology, gene expression, RNA biology and signaling pathways

+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferably MS Excel and MS PowerPoint or similar

+ Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of rodent and non-rodent models for neurological disease indications, including transgenic and knock-out mice.

+ Understanding of critical biomarker for disease and therapeutic efficacy readout


**Contract Details**


**Duration:** 12 months


**Location:** Rutgers Vivarium, South Plainfield, NJ, Bridgewater, NJ (Primarily at Rutgers Vivarium but have to travel to SP and BW occasionally)


**Working hours:** Mon to Fri 8am 5pm. There will be some weekend, evening and holiday work (on rotation schedule maybe once a month or once every 6 weeks)
