**Position Purpose:**


The Pilot Plant Technician supports customer projects and new prototype development within the Applications Department. Supports scientists by operating pilot plant and/or laboratory equipment, prepares and maintains the equipment, and ensures a safe working environment and operation of equipment.


**Essential Duties:**


+ Fully operates pilot plant equipment from start up to shut down with minimum supervision.

+ Maintain pilot plant equipment and documentation through a preventative maintenance program.

+ Maintain an inventory of equipment parts for pilot plant equipment.

+ Maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and well-organized working environment in the pilot plant and lab.

+ Perform all duties with accuracy for quality results.

+ Work as a team with all application scientist to accomplish position and business objectives.


**Additional Duties:**


+ Other tasks as assigned which may include grocery shopping, cleaning refrigerators and/or product and equipment storage areas.


**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**


**Required:**


+ High school diploma or equivalent.

+ 1-2 years experience operating a MicroThermics DIPW system or a similar system.

+ 1-2 years experience in a food pilot plant and/or laboratory environment.

+ Basic knowledge of food processing techniques with a proven understanding of the following techniques: CIP, HTST, UHT, Homogenization, Upstream vs Downstream processing.

+ Basic food science and food processing understanding.

+ Proficient in Microsoft office including analytical software skills.

+ Comfortable using math daily for formulations.

+ Ability to establish good working relationships within department and cross functionally.

+ Superior written and verbal communication skills, including presentations, meeting facilitation, and one-on-one/small group.

+ Demonstrate passion and excitement for foods and cooking.

+ Ability to take initiative and problem-solve.

+ Ability to multi-task and work independently.


**Desired:**


+ Bachelors Degree in Food Science, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
