Plant Maintenance Manager

This position will be responsible for all day to day operations of the Maintenance Team in a 24/7 operating environment. The Manager will also be responsible for the Maintenance Budget and leading projects associated with productivity increase, cost savings, and capacity increase.


Lead a team of 1 maintenance supervisor, 1 inventory supervisor, and 10 maintenance technicians.


Proficient in both written and verbal skills in communicating with suppliers, customers, and team members across multiple departments.


Minimum supervision required.


Associates Degree; (Bachelors Degree preferred) in an applicable technical field or equivalent experience in a Maintenance Manager position.


+ Specific technical knowledge (troubleshooting, maintenance, some programming) of boilers, air compressors, motors, and bearings

+ Ammonia refrigeration experience preferred

+ Strong troubleshooting skills in Electrical and Mechanical maintenance.

+ Demonstrated ability to train technicians especially in Electrical Maintenance and Troubleshooting.

+ Strong desire to work hands-on as this is a plant floor position


+ Minimum 10 years experience in a management role in a manufacturing facility

+ Minimum 5 years experience in plant maintenance (electrical, mechanical, preventative, troubleshooting and preferred programming of PLCs)

+ 5 years experience with boiler and chiller operations


Minimal travel required for training and cross training at other Nitta facilities.


+ Set specific annual goals and performance expectations for the team members.

+ Sets the training schedule and content for the team members.

+ Direct team to perform tasks to keep the plant running.

+ Report maintenance KPIs to management on a routine basis.

+ Source out solutions to improve equipment reliability and cost control.

+ Control costs for maintenance under the annual operating budget values.

+ Work with the production team to organize maintenance activities to reduce process interruption.

+ Establish and maintain relationships with key vendors and outside contractors.

+ Create and maintain maintenance related documents.

+ Ensure team follows all safety and regulatory codes.

+ Assist in creating annual capital and operating budgets.

+ Work independently and with management on capital projects.

+ Responsible for parts, preventive maintenance, training, communication and work orders throughout maintenance department

+ Other duties as assigned.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but hearing protection may be required depending on the department where the employee is assigned.
