**Position Summary**


The Plant/Maintenance Technician position will be responsible for ongoing preventative maintenance and repair work on mechanical, electrical and other installed systems. This position will coordinate and track maintenance and repairs, respond to support tickets, and provide recommendations for process improvement design. The position will support greenhouses, growth chambers, indoor growth facilities, and general office space. This position will require a person who is able to work independently in identifying and solving various technical issues. This position requires a candidate who has a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical and water systems to support a multi-site ag-biotech company. The position will report to the Engineering Manager and will interact with our growth ops, research and administrative team. This is a regular full-time position. Salary based upon experience.


**Key Job Functions**


+ Performs basic trade work in one or more maintenance trade disciplines

+ Perform routine checks and maintenance of growth chambers, greenhouse ventilation systems, sump pumps, and lighting

+ Repairs and preventive maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing infrastructure, including fans, pumps, heaters and dehumidifiers

+ Coordinate vendors for work on various installations or repairs as needed

+ Assists in planning and coordination for facility/equipment installation upgrades and preventive maintenance.

+ Research new technologies, equipment, and best practices

+ Replace lighting ballasts, light control systems and automated controls

+ Maintains a safe and clean work environment at all times

+ Makes recommendations for improved service, reliability, safety, reviews and/or recommends specifications for new equipment or systems

+ Performs routine inspections of facility equipment, noting deficiencies and initiating repairs

+ Assist in various general labor work as necessary such as building office furniture, hanging white boards, etc.

+ Assist the People Operations Manager in the administration of the companys safety program and initiatives

+ Work with outside safety consultant and governing bodies to assist and administer safety programs.

+ Other duties as assigned in support of laboratory and growth operations


**Knowledge, Skill & Ability Requirements**


+ Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory, practices and systems; can execute basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs

+ Ability to repair, test, diagnose and troubleshoot control problems

+ Knowledge of NFPA regulations, National Electric Code, OSHA requirements, general work safety procedures and other applicable regulations

+ EPA Universal Certification a plus

+ Possession of a valid CA Driver's License

+ Ability to tolerate varied working conditions (heat, humidity, cold, etc.) in greenhouse,


growth chamber, lab and field environments


+ Ability to collaborate effectively with a broad group of cross-functional staff.

+ Willingness and ability to work after hours, weekends and holidays as needed

+ Proficiency with hand/power tools and equipment associated with trades.

+ Competency with standard computer software (MS Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)


**Physical Requirements**


+ Ability to lift 40lbs.

+ Ability to work on ladders safely

+ Moderately strenuous, requiring bending, lifting, stretching, squatting and climbing, as well as sedentary involving use of computer, telephone, and standard office equipment


**Education & Experience Requirements**


+ Associate degree or 2-year trade/military school

+ Minimum five (5) years facilities maintenance technician experience or equivalent

+ Experience in a laboratory, biotechnology or agricultural setting preferred

+ Experience with leading or administering safety programs a plus

+ Previous experience troubleshooting and resolving advanced technical problems

+ Has handled multiple concurrent projects requiring continual setting of priorities and tasks
