Position/Job Title: Plant Quality Supervisor

Reports To: CFO**

Department: Quality Assurance Classification: Salaried/Exempt

Position/Job Summary

Directs and manages Quality Department and personnel ensuring conformance of all parts with customer specifications,

expectations, and demands within AS9100 certification standards, and generally, ensuring the operation of the

Department in a professional, efficient, and smooth manner in order to meet Quality and Company objectives. Shipping

& Receiving does not currently fall under the supervision of the Plant Quality Supervisor, but may reassigned in the


** CFO with dotted line reporting to Quality Systems Manager for Quality and systems compliance issues as needed

or required.

Essential Functions

Position Specific Essential Functions

Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Quality Department, to include, but not limited to coordinating

and prioritizing QC workload with personnel based upon input from manufacturing, expediting needs and/or

requirements, and resource availability.

Coordinates final Quality decisions and escalates issues to Plant Manager or Quality Systems Manager, as

applicable, for resolution.

Controls and maximizes labor, overtime, and expenses; ensures all Quality objectives are accomplished in a

timely and cost effective manner.

Ensures appropriate steps are taken to reduce delays; identifies bottlenecks prior to occurrence and ensures

necessary labor, materials, and other resources are available to meet deadlines and relieve Quality bottlenecks and delays.

Establishes workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product quality or integrity.

Administers, prepares, reviews, submits, and/or certifies pertinent Quality documentation, including CoCs,

source documentation, AS9102 packets, and all required certification or traceability documentation.

Inspects parts before, during, and after production as necessary.

Develops control plans and dimensional inspection plans for product as needed.

Performs the following functions, when necessary, based on availability/workload of Quality personnel,

availability of other resources, and time constraints:

o Approves machine set-up and verification of the conformance of first-run production work pieces to

customers specifications; collaborates with machinists to minimize production of non-conforming product.

o Spot checks or randomly audits machined parts during each specific production sequence.

Initiates nonconformance reporting when necessary.

Assists the Quality Systems Manager with maintenance of the Quality Management System as necessary or


Ensures Quality machinery and equipment is maintained and remains in good working order through both

in-house and outside maintenance and/or repair activities and services.

Oversees upkeep and maintenance of the calibration system (Fort Collins facility).

Monitors facility/plant for correct procedures relating to Quality control; provides pertinent information to

Department Managers, including suggestions for potential improvement and works with appropriate

Department Managers on strategies for implementing suggestions to ensure Quality control.

Verifies that Quality procedures are in use, functional, and efficient.

Supervises and/or performs regular Quality assessments on all incoming materials from vendors and

outgoing products for shipping.

Enforces general housekeeping and cleanliness.

In concert with Corporate Services/Human Resources:

o Provides personnel direction, development, leadership, and training to accomplish goals and

objectives in Quality related areas.

o Oversees personnel performance (monitoring and reviewing performance and organizing

interventions for improvement), discipline, and evaluation; makes recommendations regarding

wage adjustments.

o Approves time off taking into account Quality and personnel resource needs.

o Contributes to the hiring process, making recommendations as to which candidates are most

capable and able to assimilate into and be productive in the work environment.

o Understands and has elevated awareness of all Company policies and procedures and enforces

same; maintains communication between management and personnel to ensure that all policies

and procedures are understood and followed.

Responsible for stopping production if a part or process problem is identified and notifying Manager.

Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area, and the Quality Department area generally, in

accordance with Company programs, policies, and procedures.

Responsible for mentoring and/or training of other personnel as assigned.

Responsible for identification and elimination of any unnecessary waste.

Participates in corrective and preventative activities as required.

Responsible to review labor/time records (direct reports) for accuracy, and follow-up as necessary.

Maintains open communication and works with other Departments as required or necessary.

Participates in and supports the Company Quality System and all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

Participates in continuous improvement and associated training.

Adheres to the Company Quality Policy and understands and follows all applicable Quality Work Instructions,

Policies, and Procedures; seeks clarification if not understood.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

3-year minimum experience in a supervisory role in manufacturing and quality assurance within a AS9100


3-year minimum experience operating CMM, visual CMM, and other advance technology measuring


3-year minimum experience for setting up and inspecting all critical dimensions on various types of

aerospace parts.

o Absent any of the foregoing, a combination of formal training and related experience resulting in

full knowledge and a strong understanding of concepts, practices, procedures, capabilities, and

requirements of the equipment and personnel under his/her direction and as required to

successfully perform in the position and manage the Department, but not less than three (3) years.

Intimate knowledge of aerospace products and processes.

Technical knowledge of parts and shop practices, including GD&T.

Strong understanding of Quality control standards and testing techniques and industry specifications and


Experience with lean manufacturing principals.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for overall supervision of all Quality personnel (Fort Collins Facility). Shipping personnel may be

assigned at a later date.

Education & Legal Requirement

High School diploma.

Degree in business administration, engineering, or other related field education preferred.

Must be U.S. person within the meaning of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) with ability to present acceptable, original documents to prove identity and authorization to work.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Working conditions are normal for both the office and manufacturing environment.

Vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, and color vision (vision requirements of NAS 4-10).

Work will involve spending long hours sitting and using office equipment.

While performing duties of this position, the Employee is frequently required to stand (for moderate to long periods of time), walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel objects, and reach with hands and arms. Other frequent activities include, but are not limited to, push/pull of objects, bending, climbing, balancing, stooping, and twisting (torso).

Work may involve lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds.

Working in the manufacturing environment requires the use of safety equipment to include, but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes/boots, and gloves. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Long hair is required to be tied back.
