Kelly Services is currently looking to hire a Plastics Engineer to work on contract for one of our top Medical Device / Pharma clients on-site in Rochester, NY. This is a long-term opportunity.


**Position Summary:**


Lead plastic and process engineering activity for development, capacity expansion, continuity of supply and maintenance of business functions. The engineer will support and coordinate projects in a multi-disciplined, cross-functional team environment and will interface with internal and external manufacturing resources. They will support the design, development and manufacturing scale-up of medical and pharma products.



**Specific Job Duties:**


+ Participate in critique of new tool designs for robust mechanical design and optimum molding performance.

+ Manage activities with external suppliers, including molders, tool makers and material suppliers.

+ Support tooling debug and process development with suppliers

+ Responsible for driving process development that consistently yields parts conforming to specifications

+ Participate in design of experiments (DOEs) to optimize manufacturing process performance

+ Participate in the identification, selection and installation of primary and secondary processing equipment.

+ Document Technology transfer of new products and processes

+ Support technology transfer of new products/processes, process validation and documentation.

+ Perform Minitab Statistical Capability analysis and lead data driven decisions.

+ Travel to manufacturing site and selected contract manufacturers.

+ Ensure project documentation is completed and approved per procedures. Where necessary generate required report writing and documentation for DHF.

+ Responsible for initiating and managing Quality Change Requests (QCRs) to completion.


**Qualifications**


**Education** :


BS in Plastics or another Engineering discipline with specific work experience in Injection Molding of precision components


**Work Experience:**


+ 7-12 years of Plastics injection molding experience, preferably manufacturing based.

+ The desired candidate has demonstrated skills in plastic components molding, injection mold tooling expertise, tight tolerance process development and validation.

+ Must be practiced and able to lead Excel and Minitab data analysis.

+ Must possess strong communication and interactive skills, capable of working independently or on project teams as required.

+ Must be able to work with Engineering, Procurement, Manufacturing and external Suppliers in a team setting.


PREFFERED SKILLS:


+ ISO-9000, GMP, medical device manufacturing experience.

+ Design for Experiments (DOE) experience a plus.

+ Project leadership and familiarity with FDA regulated products.

+ Experience and knowledge of metrology methods.

+ Ability to write technical reports and make presentations.

+ A self-starter able to achieve project goals with minimal supervision
