Description **Prescription Benefit System Support Specialist**

**PURPOSE OF THE JOB**

Responsible for support functions to ensure correct coding is in place for medications and plan rules, web tools are accurate to the benefits at a member level by working internal system and external vendor applications.

**Required Work Experience**


+ Working with HTML language and web tools
+ Experience in pharmacy or medical field
+ Experience in prescription benefit administration
+ Experience working in vendor applications (adjudication, web tools, formulary tools)
**Required Education**


+ High-School Diploma or GED
**Preferred Work Experience**


+ Experience with a pharmacy benefit management or prescription claim administration
+ Experience with claims software / systems
+ Demonstrated experience handling confidential information
+ Demonstrated experience handling vendor system coding and analytic functions
**Preferred Education**


+ Associate’s degree in general field of study
**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**


+ Coding of PBM adjudication system for quality and accuracy to meet or exceed turn-around times
+ Coding of vendor application(s) related to web support (RxPortal and MMIT) to ensure unique custom tier lists are accurate and working correctly within the member portal.
+ Support internal customers with information on benefits applicable to medication claims
+ Perform, evaluate, and assist in defining and improving the quality, quantity and timeliness standards to achieve individual and department performance goals as defined within the department guidelines.
+ Administer, interpret, and maintain current working knowledge of required BCBSAZ systems, procedures, forms and manuals
+ Supports Analysts in researching and communicating recommendations in regard to medication claim processing and benefit system coding.
+ Supports Analysts tasks to monitor and investigate reported system issues
+ Participates in quality initiatives; including functions that support audits, reporting, evaluation of quality opportunities and concerns, and creation and implementation of corrective actions as requested.
+ Identifies and communicates system issues within vendor system(s) effectively to team.
+ Strategizes solutions for issue resolution and communicates plans to team.
+ Provides written documentation for desk levels.
+ Provides support to other team members when necessary
+ Provides reporting and analyzes data for benefit recommendations to management.
+ Coordinates schedules with other Specialists to ensure appropriate coverage for all support functions within the team
+ Coordinates efforts of Support Team to ensure special projects are prioritized within established timeframes for completion.
+ Can cover for Analyst tasks when needed.
+ The position requires a full-time work schedule. Full-time is defined as working at least 40 hours per week, plus any additional hours as requested or as needed to meet business requirements.
**REQUIRED COMPETENCIES**


+ Intermediate PC proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and claims and imaging software
+ Intermediate skill using office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, scanners and telephones
+ Advanced PC proficiency, including spreadsheet and vendor application software
+ Advanced knowledge of HTLM and web tools
