Client in the Cambridge area is currently hiring a Process Engineer.

Position is based in Marlborough, Direct Hire role.


Perform process engineering activities (equipment sizing, technology selection, troubleshooting etc.) for the delivery of custom and standard bioprocessing equipment across entire biotechnology catalog. Scope inclusive of all project phases: quotation, design, fabrication, testing, and customer site acceptance.

After order placement The Process Engineering team will execute the proposed solution based on agreed and defined contractual specification together with a defined project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Work closely with project manager and senior engineers to ensure engineering solutions meet customer requirements, project schedule, and budget.

Provides process applications and engineering support for unit operations and process solutions in upstream and downstream bioprocesses during the Lead to Order and Order to Cash processes.

Support discovery meetings and technical review of customer requirements to define the optimal equipment or process solution as well as to perform engineering tasks associated with basic engineering phase of assigned projects and process engineering support throughout the project lifecycle for assigned projects

Provide technical clarification of customer requests in cooperation with local Sales, AS and ISM, including development of PFD, Mass Balance and basic design documents to support information exchange during customer discovery meetings and technical review.

Review of customer RFQ's, development of RFQ execution strategy and planning, coordination of activities, preparation of cost estimates and supporting the development of Project Calculation Sheets.

Work within a global team to develop technical solutions/proposals in alignment with operational and corporate guidelines.

Responsible for Basic Design tasks for assigned projects including development of PFD, P&ID, GAD, Process Description, specification of major components, etc.

Maintain current knowledge of Biotechs products, process trends and accepted practices for biopharmaceutical systems and processes within industry.

Provides support during technical and commercial customer meetings/contractual negotiations.

Point of contact for internal and external communication during project execution in the area of responsibility.


A Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences, Biochemical or Biopharmaceutical engineering from an accredited engineering program.

Minimum 3 years of related engineering experience (preferably within the biopharmaceutical industry).

Background in commercial biotech processes and/ or commercial pharmaceutical manufacturing processes

Working knowledge of pharmaceutical and engineering standards and guidelines, such as: GAMP, BPE guidelines, and ASME and cGMP.

Experience implementing single use bioprocessing equipment into manufacturing processes is a definite plus.

Ability to interpret PFDs, P&IDs, Electrical Schematics and detailed design documents.

Familiarity with automation platforms (i.e., Allen-Bradley, Emerson, and Siemens) is a plus.

Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and Visio.

Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written & verbal) are essential to meet the requirements of this role.

Travel Requirements - up to 15% Travel.
