_Kelly Engineering has an exciting Direct Hire Product Development Engineer located outside Atlanta, GA area- Great Opportunity & Great Pay_


The Product Development Engineer designs complex new products and processes, based on performance objectives established by customer and/or internal marketing group. This position works under minimal supervision in establishing design objectives, testing procedures, communicating with customer, executing project management and transferring final designs to production.


**Job Functions include but are not limited to:**


1. Communicates with customer to establish performance goals and objectives and discusses material and design alternatives with customer design engineers.


2. Works with or supervises engineering technician(s) in developing prototypes for complex products and/or processes.


3. Selects optimal material to meet customer functional requirements and balances customer and manufacturing requirements to optimize geometry for manufacturability.


4. Designs experiments for testing and verification plans for new products, and coordinates tests of prototype or existing production parts. Performs Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and documents test results and prepares statistical and analytical summaries, using both standard and ad hoc formats.


5. Prepares customized reports, analyses or technical bulletins for customers as requested or as appropriate to document performance characteristics under various operational conditions. May prepare technical documentation or white papers for marketing materials.


6. Conducts or supervises field testing at customer location and participates in product development meetings with customer engineers.


7. Coordinates work with and selection of outside vendors for capabilities not available internally.


8. May be responsible for development, troubleshooting and enhancement of existing products to improve performance and customer satisfaction.


9. Prepares status reports and project plans as needed.


10. Coordinates transfer of significant new products from design to production and collaborates with manufacturing engineering, process engineering, quality, and other disciplines to ensure consistency of quality output, within tolerances established by customer.


11. Operates CAD software to generate both 2D drawings and 3D models based on design specs, following general design principles. Applies ingenuity and knowledge of a broad range of porous plastic manufacturing processes in determining the selection, layout, detail and explanatory notes of drawings.


12. Works with teams in Quality, Commercial, SIOP, and other functional areas to meet or exceed customers product expectations.


**Education:** Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably focused on mechanical, chemical, materials science, industrial, biomedical, or related field.


**Experience:** 5 to 10 years experience, preferably related to development of plastic components for sale to OEMs.


**Other skills and abilities:**


1. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate multiple activities with a wide variety of disciplines within the company.


2. Knowledge of DOE, FMEA and statistics used in the product development process.


3. Excellent project management and writing skills.


4. Ability to project a professional, competent image to key customers, as this position has high impact on the customer relationship.
