In this newly created role and reporting to the Marketing & Innovation Director, the Product Manager & Regulatory Affairs employee will be responsible for development and documentation of new and existing product specifications from concept to implementation ensuring products meet customers needs and align with operation capabilities. Alongside managing regulatory requirements, ensuring all products and labelling are in compliance with US and International export market regulations, and managing the product sampling program. Cross-functional collaboration and consultation amongst team members and co-manufacturers will be key for success.





**Key Roles & Responsibilities**




1. Manage development and documentation of all product specifications as per customer requirements from concept to commercialization and is responsible for the creation and/or updating customer specifications within customer databases and/or customers forms, as required.

2. Develop and implement successful product specification improvement solutions that deliver on key consumer needs and align to business strategies, including products with co-manufacturers.

3. Ensure proper documentation is done accurately and on schedule.

4. Manage compliance process and projects for all product lines including all USDA approval processes and submissions.

5. Develop product nutrition and ingredient information for product labels in compliance with local (US and/or Canadian regulations) and export requirements and verify accuracy of product label ingredient declarations and nutrition facts panels prior to printing for preprinted labeling.

6. Respond to nutritional and regulatory technical inquiries for both internal and external customers.

7. Monitor changes and/or updates in regulatory requirements and disseminates internally as needed.

8. Liaison with USDA compliance agents and program certifiers on site in coordination with Quality Director.

9. Responsible to oversee and validate qualifications of suppliers and co-manufactures along with Quality Director as it relates to the ambiguity between USDA and the FSIS to protect internal and external customers.

10. Use excellent communication skills and represent the company to both external and internal customers as frontline technical communicator.

11. Manage and cost monitor the product sampling program that supports sales efforts.

Maintain good records of all activities; evaluating and measuring effectiveness of products; identifying barriers and difficulties; collecting relevant information about issues; provide timely and regular reports to key stakeholders of progress against planned activities and achievement of KPIs.

**Knowledge & Skill Requirements**




+ Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a Food Science and/or Food Regulatory discipline or related field with 5+ years of related experience in the meat sector, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 10+ years of experience in lieu of a Bachelors degree.

+ Possess a solid foundation in Meat Plant GMPs, HACCP & USDA/FSIS and significant knowledge in raw meat product specification development.

+ Must be detail oriented in proofreading, data entry, managing databases and information.

+ Experience using Outlook, Word, Excel, and databases; experience with Genesis a plus.

+ Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with urgency via prioritization and program management skills.

+ Good planning, organizational, problem solving skills.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Understanding of quality control processes related to the food processing industry.

+ Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
