Client in consumer products, a world leader, is hiring a Product Quality Manager to support manufacturing operations and new product development. They are building an additional Quality Division that will be product specific. In this new role, you will report to the Director of Quality and indirectly to the VP of Quality.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Sr. Quality Engineer looking to formally move into a leadership role. You will bring your strong background in New Product Quality, as you individually contributor to Product Quality and a manage 2 direct reports.


This person will be responsible for ensuring quality is built into new products by guiding design teams through DFMEAs, identifying critical to quality items, conducting quality risk assessments and design for manufacturability reviews. They will help successfully launch products into production through PPAP, safe launch programs, product validation testing, PFMEAs, and the creation of control plans and receiving inspection plans.


After new products launch, will also lead monitoring and improving the field performance of the products (monitoring and reviewing warranty claim rates, and other consumer feedback to identify top issues and drive continuous product improvement activities to resolve). You will also ensure high quality products are provided by engineering new product offerings and continuously improving existing products.


Responsibilities:

Use strong QA process knowledge to work directly with R&D, Design Engineering, Fabrication, Production and Distribution to develop quality standards for new products and continuously improve existing products. Processes used may include: DFMEA, APQP, PPAP; Process controls, control plans, also Histograms, Cpk studies for process & part capability studies.

Lead Inspection procedures, metrology selection and product test plans.

Develop, maintain and analyze statistical data to determine compliance of present standards for quality of received materials and finished goods.

Create, implement and maintain inspection criteria for receiving inspection, in-process audits and finished goods.

Generate reports, internal and external business correspondence, and quality procedures.

Coordinate quality objectives with the production department to maximize product reliability, productivity and to reduce costs.

Develop staff skills and overall capabilities within the department and assist in the development of the skills and capability of the manufacturing department.

Internal inspection and auditing services throughout the manufacturing process.

Work with suppliers, when needed, to ensure the quality of all purchased parts and materials.

Implement quality assurance training programs within the department and assist in the overall training of the quality organization.

Participate in activities with various departments to support quality related objectives.

Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.

Support a strong Dock to Stock process with the assistance of Supplier Quality, Purchasing and the Production departments.

Work with other Quality Managers to improve the overall effectiveness and capability of the department.


Qualifications:

Problem solving using Lean, A3, 6 Sigma, or 8D.

BS in Engineering or related is a hard requirement. Six Sigma training/certifications is a plus.

Minimum 8 years progressive quality engineering experience, prefer at least 2-3 years in Sr. Quality Engineering or leadership role.

Background leading QA efforts for a new product development, including concept through design release, and working with design teams to define APQP, DFMEA, PPAP, Controls Plan s & Auditing of control plans, product test requirements.

Working knowledge or understanding of any of the following manufacturing processes is a plus: welding, painting/coating, metal fabrication, assembly, product testing.

Strong working knowledge of: ISO/QA 9000 quality standards/processes including PPAP (level 2) required, Metrology and measuring techniques.

Must have new product development quality experience creating DFMEAS, control plans, APQP/PPAP standards for suppliers and product testing experience

Experience auditing of new controls plans and with designs through mass production release, and post release warranty surveillance of returns and customer complaints.

Analytical, Strategic with Intellectual Curiosity

Experience with setting up or altering significantly a QMS /Quality Management System (Plan, and freedom to overhaul current system in place)

Articulate, confident, good listener, strong written and presentation skills

Need someone who can create a process map and communicate in a logical flow.
