Description **Job Description**

Lead at this company in San Jose is considered a "working Lead." In addition to the task of producing product towards customer orders, their skill, responsibility, and leadership qualities have given them the opportunity to fill this critical position. The following is a list of roles and responsibilities that are applicable to the Lead position:

- Raise awareness of behavioral safety and help make JM San Jose a zero injury facility

- Promote behavioral safety

- Start every shift meeting with a safety minute

- Encourage staff members to submit -learning events-. It-s a great way to correct safety issues that could potentially become a bigger issue if not identified and corrected

- Identify bottlenecks areas in Tubing and notify management and engineering to eliminate bottlenecks

- Assist Production Supervisor and Engineering in gathering data in Tubing to set metrics

- Work with management and lead team members to achieve and maintain 96% on-time delivery in Tubing

- Identify areas and/or steps in Tubing which can be automated or semi-automated to improve lead times

- Ensure employees are following work instructions, standard operating procedures, policies, and Employee Rules & Regulations

- Ensure -deep dock- areas are free of debris, scrap, and mandrels

- Set up shift activities for swing shift; communicate with swing shift the daily priorities, schedules and on-time delivery status

- Works closely with Production Supervisor in assisting with reviewing, planning, and prioritizing shop orders and the assignment of jobs to best utilize the skills of Shop Personnel.

- Directs the work assignments and is responsible for following up on the progress of these assignments throughout the shift.

- Communicates requirements for various position levels and provides hands-on on-the-job training.

- Has the authority to issue and enforce Management directives as directed by Production Supervisor or any other member of Management; any refusal by personnel of such directives from Lead personnel would be considered an act of insubordination; an example would be if a Lead observed one of their assigned personnel not working or slacking off, the Lead has the authority to direct that employee to get back to work or re-assign the employee to another task. If the employee refused, the Lead has the authority to direct the employee to the Production Manager-s office or send the employee home pending further management investigation if the Supervisor or another member of Management was unavailable.

- Assists Production Manager with addressing employee complaints and resolving problems.

- Assists with and actively participates in recommending improvement of production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the shop.

- Reviews job assignments with the assigned personnel and should communicate as needed the level of performance expected.

- Responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the production area in accordance to 6S guidelines, safety and quality standards.

- Responsible for monitoring the processes and should recognize when a job order is in jeopardy as early as possible and be able to form solutions or troubleshoot to correct any deviations or complex technical problems; should also communicate such progress or issues to Production Manager.

- Reviews quality issues with assigned personnel, engineering etc. and takes corrective action as required.

- Serves as a coach and mentor to other technicians.

- Participates in the selection and hiring of technicians.

- Participates and provides valuable input to Production Manager in the Performance Review process of personnel regarding strengths, weaknesses, and required further development training programs.

- Responsible for routine preventative maintenance and ensuring that tools, equipment, supplies, and raw materials are available to meet production requirements.

- On an as-needed basis, updates metrics and progress of orders in production meetings.
