Production Manager (Norwell, MA)

Client in Norwell, MA is currently reporting for a Production Manager (second shift), reporting directly to the Director of Operations (3:00 pm - 1:00 am). This position is a Direct Hire.

The successful candidate must be a proven leader, and have extensive experience preparing and executing production schedules. Strategic and tactical leadership responsibility and accountability for the following areas will be expected: melting, mass finishing, rolling, front of cell, also manual and machine lathe, polishing, finishing, and shipping skills all key.

This position will lead on continuous improvement problem solving opportunities. She/he will be expected to meet / exceed new and existing customer requirements, meet / exceed operating objectives and fostering a safe and productive work environment. Ability to drive strategic vision and understand tactics necessary to achieve company goals.

An ideal candidate will have a sharp business mind and proven success managing multiple departments toward maximum productivity. Youll be highly skilled in human resources, finance, and IT management. Additionally, youll display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust and collaboration within a capable and experienced team.

The ideal candidate would be responsible for:

Extensive experience executing production schedules.

Managing, motivating, supporting, and providing guidance to production staff.

Evaluating machine resources to ensure continued production and minimal downtime.

Establishing a balance between increased productivity and reduced costs of manufacturing operations.

Setting productivity goals for each manufacturing team.

Developing LEAN workflow policies and procedures that improve efficiency without compromising safety or quality.

Ensuring all safety and health standards are met to keep our organization accident free.

Working effectively in a team setting.

Working proficiently with the ERP system to support all decision making.

Handle emergencies appropriately according to established procedures; prepare and file accident reports.

Ensure compliance with company or government regulations; ensure compliance with contracted service level agreements (SLAs); maintain up-to-date county, municipal, and state licensing

Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Provide for site safety and security; devise and implement site policies and procedures.

Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of systems and equipment, monitor fire alarm control panels and other emergency equipment.

Work closely with safety departments to make sure activities remain compliant.

Maintain constant communication with management, staff, and vendors to ensure proper operations of the organization.


Management experience preferred as Manufacturing Supervisor. Manufacturing leadership experience (5-10 years experience preferred).

Melting, mass finishing, rolling, front of cell, manual and machine lathe, polishing, finishing, and shipping background preferred .

Continuous improvement background.

Four-year degree from an accredited university or two-year degree in a technical discipline with five years management experience.

Lean Six Sigma certification preferred to best drive the methodology for both incremental and major improvement gains.

Demonstrated experience with metrics, process capabilities, LEAN techniques, continuous improvement tools like Kaizen.

5+ years of demonstrated experience with computer problem solving using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagram, Value Stream Mapping.

Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment with a solid team building approach.

Judgment, initiative, and ingenuity to work independently towards ultimate objectives on very involved and complex jobs. Capability to work cross-functionally across the organization.

The proven ability to build consensus and resolve conflict, as well as to clearly/concisely priorities among multiple opportunities.

Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with internal and external resources.

Must have the demonstrated ability to build long-term relationships and know how to motivate and develop teams and individuals to reach their highest potential.

Display a proven ability to develop and maintain an environment of trust and collaboration within a capable and experienced team.
