**Summary:**
**DIRECT HIRE**
**Production Planner**
**Location Houston, TX**
**Salary: $65-75K**
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Planner will work with various functions throughout the business to manage the master production plan. This will include coordinating, forecasting, production scheduling, and plant operations activities as they relate to the production plan.
**Responsibilities:**
Interface with sales to determine the product forecast in addition to providing feedback on delivery
capabilities during the initial quoting phase
Analyze the forecast to determine potential for smoothing the production plan
Analyze manufacturing capacity constraints and their impact on the master production plan
Develop and present plan reports and performance, explain variances and methods of
improvement
Provide information to customer service regarding order status
Evaluate and recommend improvements to lower inventory, reduce stock outs and to produce
more accurate schedules
Schedule and plan on quick job cycles while having the capability of absorbing emergency repair
work into the production schedule with minimal effects on overall delivery projections
Review sales order information and schedule manufacture/repair orders in accordance with due
dates
For manufacture/repair orders, prepare schedule to accommodate availability of personnel,
equipment and materials
Review and execute routers and releases to floor with necessary prints
Release materials needed on orders from stock room or staging areas
Keep abreast of order flow throughout shop and adjust schedules and routings as required to
meet delivery schedules
Confer with and advise sales of order delays
Quote lead times and run quote estimates for customer orders
Work closely with floor personnel on material issues and changing schedules to reduce set-up
times
Maintain daily labor reporting to include keying in of labor tickets
Reconcile time variations or missing information to include conferring with Production Manager
and production personnel
Review weekly labor hours and communicate with accounting office
Compile, prepare and issue or distribute various reports regarding labor hours, items shipped,
etc.
Work with open order report to ensure schedules are maintained and communicate when changes occur with other interested parties
**Skills:**
Must have the mechanical aptitude to learn the technical nature
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; be a strong user of Excel for managing production
planning
Experience in a machining environment (knowledge of mills and CNC Machines) highly desired
Experience planning in a fast-paced environment
Able to work closely with the buyer to ensure product lead times are met
Must have a sense of urgency
Must be extremely flexible to adjust to continually changing demands and adjust production plan
to meet the demands
**Education and Experience:**
Associates degree required in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related area. Bachelors degree
preferred
2-3 years of experience with production scheduling techniques or other closely related functions
Sytline experience desired.
APICS/MAPICS preferred
