**Job Description**


Directs the production process of electronic printing, binding, inserting and mailing on the production floor. Primary responsibilities include staffing, training, performance bench-marking, assigning workloads, supervision, and quality inspection for daily production activity as well as planning resource allocation for growth. Time is split between production management and planning.


The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Production Management Allocation of time = 80%

- Promote the production goals and objectives of the facility.

- Hire, train, and manage production operations staff.

- Coordinate all production resources.

- Maintain production processing schedules for all applications.

- Establish Equipment benchmarks by equipment and application.

- Distribute daily workloads to production operators.

- Authorize and assign overtime as needed.

- Deploy temporary labor when peak loads warrant.

- Supervise 1st shift production floor.

- Inspect and sign off on applications throughout processing.

- Maintain production statistics on each production run, accumulate and report.

- Establish continuous improvement efforts in the production process.

- Support resolution of internal conflicts and production problems.

- Supervise maintenance requirements of production equipment.

Production Planning Allocation of time = 20%

- Assist in scheduling new applications into existing production schedules.

- Keep abreast of improvements in production technology.

- Advise on need to acquire new/additional production resources.

- Collect, record and analyze production performance and efficiency.



- Expert knowledge of electronic printing, letter shop, finishing and mailing operations.

- Expert knowledge of U.S. Postal Service (USPS) regulations highly desirable.

- Operational proficiency with The following equipment:

- NX Ink Jet Press

- Xerox Nuvera288

- OceVarioPrint6320

- AuotSETxt

- AutoSETB4

- AutoSET18

- Bell & Howell Automated inserters.

- General Bindery equipment.

- Thorough knowledge of Total Quality Management (TQM) and continuous improvement methods.

- Working knowledge of programming and data processing methods.

- P.C.-based computer literacy. Working knowledge of MS-DOS, Windows, MS-Office , MS-Project.

- Mathematical and/or accounting proficiency to support machine bench-marking and tracking statistics.

- Knowledge of graphic design concepts sufficient to meaningfully participate in the design and specifications process for electronic printing & mailing applications.


- Proven management and leadership skills, including:

- Motivational skills to communicate the vision, goals and objectives of the division and solicit the appropriate performance levels from all employees.

- Strong interviewing technique for identifying and matching the right candidate to the job.

- Maintenance and administration of internal operational training and educational programs.

- Exceptional evaluation techniques to track, critique and review employee performance against expectations.

- The ability to identify and resolve conflicts between employees.

- A solid commitment to diversity in the workplace and equality of opportunity.

- Exceptional Production acumen:

- The ability to work well under pressure and juggle production schedules to meet deadlines.

- Good problem solving skills.

- Keen customer service orientation.

- Solid written and verbal communications skills.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.


Education & Experience

Minimum 5 years supervisory or management experience in the Direct Mail Service Bureau Industry.


Monday through Friday 7am to 4pm

Overtime, Weekends, and Holidays are needed
