JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY OF POSITION

Directs and coordinates daily activities and development of production personnel engaged in the manufacturing and secondary operations of precision machined medical components.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Ensures safety of staff, plant personnel, visitors, and contractors by ensuring compliance to site, corporate, local, state, & federal safety guidelines and rules.

- Responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of up to 50 personnel engaged in the manufacturing of Nitinol components.

- Responsible for planning and coordination of production activities to obtain optimum utilization of human resources, direct mat

- Directs, schedules, and coordinates the efficient processing of materials within the various production departments. Assures maximum utilization and efficiency of equipment and hourly personnel to provide the greatest productivity. .

- Advises Management of new developments that may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations and/or inter-departmental relations.

- Schedules all labor within their assigned department which includes overtime, vacations, leave of absences, and training to ensure the timely completion.

- Weekly approvals of time records for department.

- Responsible for timely performance feedback and annual reviews.

- Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.

- CI understanding will be developed to a level whereby they will be involved in larger lean projects and potentially lead smaller area specific projects.

- Escalates manufacturing issues to material control/master scheduler that may impact production schedules.

- Coordinate material flow to meet OTD and quality goals for the business.

- Participates in monthly safety meetings, and ensure good housekeeping practices.

- Recommends capital equipment purchases that will increase capabilities or productivity. Participate and provide input into the design of new or upgrades to production equipment.

- Performs regular inspections of their equipment to ensure safe operating conditions and continuous operation through preventative maintenance

SCOPE

- Reports to a Production Manager or Operations Manager and is responsible for the direction and coordination of shift operations and related personnel in the production of machined parts.Effectively plans and implements work for assigned production areas ensuring parts and material are available for the departments to perform their work and meet on-time delivery deadlines.Schedules all labor within the assigned production areas, which include overtime, vacations, leave of absences, and training programs to ensure the timely completion of orders.Regularly interacts with Production, Quality, Material Control, Engineering, EHS, HR and Facilities managers. Incumbent may consult with vendors as required by production responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

- High school diploma or equivalent required. Associates or Bachelors degree desired.

- 4-6 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferably servicing the Medical Device Industry with a minimum of 2 years responsibility in a Lead role.

- Working knowledge in progressive management technologies such as Lean Manufacturing, JIT, MRP, and ERP desired.

PERSONAL SKILLS, COMPETENCES & BEHAVIORS

- Ensure both self and team adheres to business/JM EHS standards at all times, and that production does not override EHS requirements.

- Works with the team to ensure they understand EHS responsibilities.

- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematics or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Applicants must posses strong communication skills at all levels and across all disciplines including strong customer focus and good customer relations.

ENVIRONMENT

All functions take place inside with optimal lighting. Casual attire recommended with shirt, lab coat or gown provided. The employee can expect moderate levels of noise, in addition to oils, grease, solvents, metal shavings, and grinding debris. The temperature is generally average.
