This is a Direct Hire opportunity.*** Education Required University Degree (BA degree) preferred Education requirements can be obtained through an educational institution or gained through equivalent work experience. Technical Knowledge and Skills University Degree (BA degree) preferred in Industrial Engineering, Business Management, Business Administration, or other related field. Three to Five years experience preferred managing and leading people in a fast paced, complex manufacturing environment. One to Two years experience in managing projects and budget. Experience implementing and managing LEAN manufacturing principles. Experience with medical device manufacturing a plus. Experience in Microsoft Office, Access, and Oracle preferred. Experience in ISO 9001, 13485, FDA, OSHA. Good people skills, problem solving, verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of cost control budgets. Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate, procedures and specifications. Ability to manage high and low volume assembly with efficiency principles. Strong desire for self and department continual improvement. Abilities Effective communicator with all team members - direct, indirect, exempt and technical staff. Strong motivation, management, influencing, development, training, and leadership abilities for all organization levels. Working under time constraints, making quick informed decisions, using critical thinking skills, very adaptable. Very organized and able to work with direct manual labor processes and highly automated technical equipment. Ability to manage, influence, and facilitate resources not directly reporting to them. Impact and Scope Errors in Safety decisions can lead to personnel being injured and/or OSHA regulation violations. Errors in Quality decisions can lead to FDA recalls, audit findings, customer complaints, and customer service issues. Errors in Human Resources decisions can lead to Labor Department violations, employment legal issues, fines and employee morale issues. Errors in decision making can result in productivity, financial variances and other risks to Smiths Medical. Key Internal and External Relationships EHS, Quality, Scheduling/Planning, Engineering, Human Resources, Maintenance, Purchasing, Finance, other Smiths Medical sites, Materials Warehouse, Planning, and EH&S. Planning and Decision Making Ability to motivate, manage, influence, develop, train, and lead people at different levels of the organization. Authority to change department procedures as long as in compliance with ISO, FDA and company policy guidelines. Execution of changes would require review and approval by site level management. Authority to determine daily assignments for direct reports, approve PTO, and adjust production schedules to meet changing demand. Prioritize conflicting demand based on backorder and backlog. Identify staffing needs. Authority to interview and hire employees as needed with site level management and Human Resources approval. Make consistent and fair disciplinary actions as needed with the approval of site level management and Human Resources. Analyze complex tasks and problems, determine best solution and best practices where answers do not exist; resolve conflicting priorities.


**Responsibilities:**

Insure that all employees on the shift understand and adhere to the principles detailed in the Smiths Medical Quality Manual while meeting all regulatory requirements of the GMP/ISO guidelines and Smiths Medical policies and procedures. Instill and support the Smiths Medical basic operating philosophy of teamwork, encourage each individual to contribute, and recognize the dignity of each individual while valuing the contribution each makes to achieve our common goal. Lead the team and communicate the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Metrics, Goals and Objectives to their direct reports. Promote, support, and encourage Lean Thinking-Continuous Improvement Culture. Support the company's vision, mission, and values through the Smiths Excellence System. Inspire and motivate a team for optimal performance. Ensure associates have proper documented training to produce quality products within requirements. Select, hire, staff, train, coordinate, direct, coach, evaluate, and issue corrective actions to associates. Communicate and escalate safety/quality/productivity issues to site leadership and other department managers. Provide direction and training to staff. Identify training needs and assess cross training opportunities to develop the workforce. Ensure production standards are established correctly and are consistently achieved. Work with Engineering, Tooling and technicians to identify and prioritize process and system improvements to move the departments forward. Coordinate daily communication meeting in regards to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Attainment and Cost initiatives. Resolve and communicate personnel issues with Management and Human Resources. Understand and enforce company policies and procedures ensuring correct application for their team members. Ensure the execution and effectiveness of the daily production schedule with the affected departments and Planners. Structure and execute NCMR investigation and complaint investigations and closures. Organize and execute continual improvement activities and Kaizen events. Coordinate operation cost reduction initiatives to reduce scrap and waste while improving OEE and labor efficiency. Support and participate in VIP projects as applicable. Understand and lead the team to operate within budget and standard targets. This position is required to assure compliance of company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, government occupational health and environmental regulations and statutes). This will be a 3rd shift Position 11:00pm-8:00am with an 1hour lunch
