Kelly Engineering Resources is working with a medium sized privately held metal fabrication shop that is searching for a **Production Supervisor** . In this role, you will join a growing organization where you supervise up to 20-30 direct reports in **fabrication/welding, machining and plate processing** . You will report to the Operations Manager where your main priorities will be to:

+ Drive production to ensure customer ship dates are met.

+ Hire, train, coach, develop and manage staff

+ Measure, track and report on KPIs of department in a Lean & Continuous Improvement environment.

+ Budget development and allocation

**Essential Responsibilities of the Production Supervisor**

+ Ensures that items produced in the Fabrication, Plate Processing and Machining areas are made to the highest quality standards, at the lowest possible cost, and are completed on-time. Will ensure continuous improvement of processes and methods used to produce parts to constantly improve in all of these areas.

+ Effectively plans, directs and coordinates production activities related to the fabrication, machining, painting and assembly of parts, equipment and systems.

+ Provides daily supervision to all shop-floor employees including their orientation, training, work scheduling, performance management and review, and employee problem resolution.

+ Recommends motivational plans to senior management.

+ Recommend and initiates personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, hires and separations

+ Provide recommendations on pay.

+ Confers regularly with Operations Manager, Engineering Manager, Project Managers/Coordinators, Millwright Managers, and those responsible for individual lines of business to coordinate operation and functional activities within and between departments.

+ Regularly communicates by using but not limited to, daily huddles with the production teams to ensure consistency, review progress on KPIs and to ensure timely and accurate completion of their individual manufacturing tasks.

+ Leads the production teams with a positive attitude that is in alignment with Open Book Management, teamwork, mission, vision and values of the organization.

+ May assist in the quoting, planning and scheduling of production jobs.

+ Examines and inspects work progress, operating equipment, and production areas to ensure that safety equipment and procedures are in place and to ensure that employees are working safely, and to see that job and product specifications are met.

+ Plans, directs and coordinates activities concerned with the painting/finishing of parts, equipment and systems.

+ Ensures that all employees under supervision have received and are using proper documentation (drawings and travelers) needed to complete their tasks, report and charge time and materials properly.

+ Maintains current operating knowledge about the capabilities and operating functions of all in-shop manufacturing equipment and properly reports needed repairs or maintenance.

+ Participates in the annual budget preparation and justification of his/her departments.

+ Directs the safe work practices of all employees under his/her supervision and notifies management of any unsafe work conditions or equipment that cannot be directly addressed within the department.

+ Works together with Lead Machinist and Lead Fabricator to determine best methods of manufacturing and may consult on workload, scheduling and most effective delegation of work.

**Qualifications of the Successful Production Supervisor**

+ High School Diploma and 5 years minimum experience as a production supervisor in a fabrication & machining environment

+ Working knowledge on metal fabrication equipment, machining equipment, and their manufacturing process

+ Record of hiring, developing and managing staff in metal fabrication & machining.

+ Record of KPI/metrics tracking for production.

+ Proficient in MS Office software.

+ Budget justification and resource allocation.

+ Working knowledge of production planning, lean & continuous improvement.
