We are seeking a Production Operator to work in the Dispersions & Pigments (ED) business unit as part of our Louisville, KY manufacturing site.


As a Production Operator, you will assist higher-level operators in all phases of chemical batch manufacturing. Common examples of daily job tasks are the following: weighing and charging raw material, transferring products from vessels to storage tanks, drumming, operating a mobile equipment to transfer material, and performing housekeeping items.

**Material Handling:**

Moving, securing, and stacking raw materials and finished goods using a forklift, drum haulers and other mobile equipment.

**Processing**

Setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and cleaning the following units:

Milling, Charging and Packaging Equipment

Understanding, monitoring, and troubleshooting other systems such as:

Chilled Water System, Backup Compressed Air System, Dust Collectors, and Pressure Washer **Cleaning**

Weighing and charging of raw materials

Sampling batches through screen checks and contamination checks and making necessary adjustments to the product

Providing the lab with samples for further analysis

Light maintenance on all equipment

Placing work requests for complex maintenance issues

Maintaining process information logs

Cleanup of operating area

**Other**

MS Office suite, general computer skills and ability to learn from computer-based training modules.

Must be willing to comply with all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) based on requirements of the site, position and tasks.

Education/Experience: The duties and responsibilities of this position require an individual with a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent manufacturing experience.

Safe Operations with high safety standards.

12-hour schedule (6:00 pm to 6:00 am) for most of the year and possible 8-hour shift (6:00 pm to 2:30 am) near the end of the year. Overtime is available.

The typical shift schedule is two-week schedule including weekends, that rotates with 3 total nights/week working, 4 total nights/week off and reverses the following week to 4 total nights/week working and 3 total nights/week off.

Pay is $22.00 per hour.

Most of the work environment is not temperature controlled but all areas are heated during the winter months.

Breaks and lunches are onsite.

Opportunity to join the ICWU Union Local 663C after training period of a minimum of 180 days.


**Physical Demands:**

Standing: Regularly. On various types of surfaces (smooth, uneven, concrete, metal). Performs most tasks in this position for up to 4-hour intervals in an 8-hour day.

Walking: Regularly. On various types of surfaces (smooth, uneven, concrete, metal, blacktop).

Sitting: Occasionally.

Lifting: Frequently. Lifting bags up to 55 pounds. Occasionally. Lifting up to 100 or more pounds.

Carrying: Occasionally.

Climbing: Occasionally. Stair climbing is required to reach many work areas.

Push/Pull: Frequently. Pushing/pulling buttons, levers, wagons, racks, and drums (up to 600#).

Crouch/Kneel: Occasionally. For short periods of time when dragging or using hoses.

Balance: Occasionally. Walking on uneven surfaces; stepping over material and obstructions; mounting stairs, step stools or ladders; and working on metal structures. May also be performed under wet conditions.
