Kelly Engineering has a great opportunity for a Project Manager located in McAllen, TX!


Position Summary:

The Project Manager's primary responsibility is to manage construction materials testing CoMET projects and solve construction related issues in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget. This will include coordinating and participating in field observations; classification and characterization of construction materials physical properties; assignment of laboratory and field tests; interpretation of engineering data; performing engineering calculations, preparation of engineering reports, and peer review of field and test reports. Additional important responsibilities include the efficient and economical use of company resources in the analyses and solution of engineering problems; preparation of forensic, engineering and test reports; managing assigned personnel; and training and monitoring of construction materials technicians in the laboratory and field.


Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


+ Serve as Project Manager, Construction Materials Engineering/Project Professional on engineering and CoMET projects including project management from the beginning to the end of the project.

+ Complete projects and reports in a timely and accurate manner within the specified budget.

+ Provide mentorship and professional development to other professional, technical, clerical and support staff members.

+ Perform CoMET consulting activities as required on company projects, and working in unison with staff members in the designated office and other offices.

+ Coordinate materials testing activities with subcontractors and field staff.

+ Possess knowledge of the testing procedures used in a geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory ASTM, TxDOT, AASTHO, USCOE, etc.

+ Prepare laboratory-testing assignments on projects in accordance with the testing program.

+ Analyze field data, laboratory test results, perform engineering calculations and provide required opinions/recommendations for completion of client reports.

+ Submit draft materials testing and engineering reports for review and final reports for co-signature of assigned staff members.

+ Possess a competent understanding of construction plans and specifications, as well as good accepted engineering practices to be used in the review of assigned engineering reports and construction documents.

+ Perform field observation services in support of the CoMET activities, as well as for construction engineering investigations.

+ Assist the designated office in expanding the scope and technological level of excellence currently provided in our engineering, environmental and construction materials services.

+ Adhere to and support Safety program implementation and maintenance as well the Radiation Safety program for the designated office.

+ Lift and/or move 45 pounds to include, but not limited to tools, sample containers and equipment.

+ Potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to varying weather conditions, hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.

+ May work on ladders and in confined spaces.

+ Position may require protracted or irregular hours.

+ Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.

+ Work responsibilities require out of town travel to other offices, client offices and project locations.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.


**Employees shall possess the following minimum qualifications:**


+ Professional Engineers License for The State of Texas or the ability to be licensed in Texas within 3 months.

+ Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field and having a minimum of 2 years of Construction Materials Testing and Engineering experience.

+ Excellent oral communication skills to interact with clients and staff successfully. Speaking with clarity and understanding skills are a necessity to prevent costly and time-consuming problems.

+ Excellent written communication skills for preparing, reports, and other engineering documents.

+ Organizational skills to utilize firm resources efficiently and effectively.

+ Possess valid Texas drivers license and meet firms auto insurability requirements.

+ Ability to travel to project sites and maneuvers over rough and uneven terrain.

+ Distinguish colors and shades of color for identification and analysis.

+ Present a professional appearance to best represent the firm.

+ Must pass a drug test prior to employment and will be subject to post-accident, random, and reasonable cause testing during employment.
