Description **Quality Engineer**

Performs inspections (audits) and sets quality assurance testing models for ongoing analysis of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products. Provide tier 2 support for Technical Services by providing enhanced diagnostics abilities in determining failure modes and root causes of workmanship issues. Collaborates with Design & Sustaining Engineering during analysis and resolution.

**Duties include, but are not limited to:**


+ Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved requirements
+ Performs inspections (audits) of raw materials and finished product
+ Provide assistance/direction to Quality Technicians
+ Manage the disposition, flow, tracking, and failure analysis results of suspect material from incoming inspection, production fallout and RMA product returns
+ Facilitate Material Review Board process including appropriate disposition of non-compliant materials and finished goods
+ Provide tier 2 support for Technical Services by providing enhanced diagnostics abilities and trend analysis in determining failure modes (design vs. workmanship vs. handling) and in identifying root causes associated with workmanship and/or handling when so identified
+ Work directly with Engineering to resolve design or manufacturability issues when/if they are found to be suspect as the failure mode
+ Communicate to and resolve manufacturing quality issues with off-shore Quality Engineer assigned to the contract manufacturer to push issues ‘up stream’ before they escape the factory
+ In cooperation with supply chain management originate, track, and manage supplier CARs where appropriate
+ Facilitate testing of component, in process and finished goods including routine inspection process audits and 3rd party testing
+ Physical ability to transport objects typically weighing up to 30 lbs.
+ May be required to perform several and/or combination of the following tasks such as to lift, carry, push, pull, sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, bend, twist, reach, grasp and/or work with small objects.
+ May be required to stand and/or walk for considerable (8+ hours) periods.
+ Extended work hours may be required, including weekends and holidays to meet customer orders.

**QUALIFICATIONS**


+ A bachelor's degree in quality, electronics, or mechanical engineering is required
+ Minimum 5 years’ experience in an electronics design and high-volume off-shore manufacturing environment
+ Must be capable of assessing and troubleshooting mechanical tolerance stack-up issues associated with miniature electronics packaging in high-volume environments
+ Demonstrable experience with plastics injection molding tool and tolerance assessment as it relates to assembly of electronics.
+ Proven skills in analytical assessment of field failure trends, patterns, indicators, and/or clues as they relate to the identification of root cause
+ Knowledge of and practical use of SPC including CpK & PpK analysis
+ Certified Six Sigma Black or Green belt highly preferred
+ Excellent computer skills (Including, but not limited to: Windows, Office, Visio, Project Manager, Internet)
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills
+ Exceptionally strong analytical and diagnostic skills
+ Highly organized self-starter
+ Work independently, and proactively
+ ISO/Lean quality system knowledge
+ FMEA experience highly preferred
