**Kelly Services is actively recruiting for a Quality Assurance Manager in the Greater Minneapolis, MN Area for a 2 month contract with potential month to month extensions.**


**Job Description:**


**NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:**

The Quality Assurance Manager is a member of the facility Quality Assurance Department, and gets functional direction from the Director of Quality Assurance


The Quality Assurance Manager plans, coordinates, and directs the food safety and quality assurance programs at the facility level, which is designed to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established food safety and quality standards.


This is accomplished in part through the subordinate quality assurance staff at the manufacturing facility level. This position interacts with the facility quality assurance staff, plant management and crewmembers to verify food safety and quality and ensure compliance with specifications.


This position has frequent contact with personnel from internal and external suppliers and customers. This position also provides training on food safety, product quality and specifications, and interacts with regulatory agencies regarding conformance to requirements.


**DIMENSIONS:**

+ Responsible for the food safety and quality assurance function at manufacturing facility


**DETAILED ACCOUNTABILITIES:**


+ Manage quality assurance staff; provide food quality and food safety goals, frequent communication with quality assurance staff to resolve problems and issues.

+ Facilitate the activities pertaining to ensuring product quality and compliance with specifications. Keep supervisor informed of any changes in technical specifications.

+ Facilitate the activities pertaining to ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance.

+ Consult and advise plant manager on food safety and quality issues. Lead problem solving efforts, including determination of root cause and preventative measures. Provide ongoing communication to plant management team regarding food safety and quality performance.

+ Responsible for the knowledge, understanding, and enforcement of all company policies and regulations. Works to ensure Client's Vision Values and Culture is understood and followed by all employees starting with she/he behavior of leading by example.

+ Monitors and records food safety, food quality, or security issues and concerns daily. Communicates and resolves any violations of food safety, food quality, or security when it is observed or reported. Escalates food safety, food quality, or security issues and concerns to QA Director and Plant Manager as appropriate.

+ Take steps as needed to control potentially unsafe or poor-quality product. This may include isolating product or shutting down product lines. Report to supervisor any serious food quality or food safety issues not resolved at the facility level.

+ Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product.

+ Develop, implement, and maintain HACCP and Food Safety plan, oversee all execution of preventative controls and pre-requisite programs.

+ Formulate and maintain food quality and food safety objectives and coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant manager to maximize product reliability and minimize costs.

+ Direct crewmembers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over ingredients, packaging, work in-process (WIP), finished product and equipment.

+ Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to food quality and food safety.

+ Investigate consumer response relating to food quality or food. Reduce risk through effective system design, implementation and maintenance.

+ Assist in the training of Legendary Baking Management in the quality assurance theory and practice, processes and procedures.

+ Responsible for monitoring and following all food safety procedures.


**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:**


+ Position must be able to: see/hear/speak work in -10 to 100 F environments for short periods handle hot and cold materials and equipment reach above shoulder and below knee level

+ Sit 50% Walk 30% Stand 10% Stoop/Bend 10%

+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.

+ Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

+ While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required evaluate food organoleptically. This position frequently is required to stand; walk; and use hands and fingers to feel materials or handle equipment. This position is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.

+ This position must occasionally lift or move weights up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This position frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and extreme heat. This position is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment may be high.


**SUCCESSION:**

In the event of an open position, the responsibilities of QA Manager will be assumed by the QA Director.



**SKILL OR SPECIALIZATION REQUIRED:**


+ Four-year degree in Food Science or related field. Must possess the ability to understand and execute a variety of regulatory and company procedures and policies.

+ Must be computer literate, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.

+ Must be able to work independently, at a fast pace, follow and give directions and make decisions.
