Kelly Scientific has an excellent Quality Control chemist opportunity. The ideal candidate would have 3-5 years of experience in a food/pharmaceutical environment and strong chromatography and analytical skills. This position works with the rest of the quality team to support the product team. The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for developing new methods, validating instrumentation, training of departmental staff and assisting production through a statistical decision-making process.



**Responsibilities:**




+ Independently perform analytical testing on in process products, finished products and ingredients to ensure adherence to product specifications

+ Validating Laboratory Technicians on testing methods and chemistry behind them

+ Mentors and trains staff in general laboratory testing as well as offering more complex instrumentation training

+ Expected to gain an understanding of the calibration, maintaining of calibrations, PMs and reference standards on instrumentation

+ Troubleshoot and maintain equipment in the Laboratories. Perform basic routine maintenance. Schedule outside service when necessary.

+ Responsible for chemical safety and Risk Assessment and Job Safety Analysis of methods

+ Developing new methods as needed




+ Chemical interpretation of methods and revision writing of analytical methods

+ Assist Laboratory Technicians in advanced analytical interpretation

+ Interpret data trends by regularly reviewing analytical for specification compliance

+ Assist in the performance of internal assessments & audits necessary to assure our compliance with stated procedures and objectives.

+ Assist in the problem analysis and corrective action necessary to address any customer complaints or rejections.

+ Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are always followed. Escalate any issues/concerns to management

+ Advise operations of quality matters and recommend corrective actions where appropriate

+ Review and Release Analytical Data in LIMs system

+ All other duties as assigned by management



**Qualifications:**




+ Bachelors degree minimum **required** (preferred a bachelor's degree in Chemistry) M.S in Analytical Chemistry is a **plus** .

+ 3-5 years' experience working in a similar or related role in a food and pharmaceutical laboratory setting

+ Experience with chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC), analytical method development, chemical analysis (viscosity, FTIR, UV), statistical analysis and general laboratory safety procedures.

+ Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication with other departments

+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Laboratory Information System (LIMS).

+ Experience with CAPA and ERP type systems preferred

+ Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment
