**Job Title:** Quality Control Manager



**Location:** Portland, Oregon



**Summary**



The Quality Control Manager is responsible for supervision of the QC Department within the manufacturing plant. Responsible for food safety, GMP practices, food quality, and development of the QC personnel within the facility. The incumbent is expected to have intimate knowledge of laboratory GMP practices and procedures, production processes, internal and external auditing.





**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**




+ Direct, support and develop QC technicians

+ Complete departmental supervisory administrative duties (i.e. employee paperwork, safety and food safety audits).

+ Develop, implement, maintain, evaluate and ensure compliance to plant programs such as SOPs, SSOPs, USDA and FDA regulatory, and BRC requirements. This position acts as the liaison with USDA to resolve routine regulatory issues.

+ Prepare for, and act as the lead representative for third party and customer audits, and responsible for internal auditing program.

+ Receive, document, investigate and respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.

+ Must maintain the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

+ Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.

+ Other duties as assigned.

+ QC technicians, Operations Manager and HR provide back-up for this position during absences.





**Supervisory Responsibilities**



Strong leadership and managerial skills with the ability to coach and develop employees. Directly supervises Quality Control employees across multiple shifts. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.





**Education and/or Experience**




+ Minimum of 3 years Food Processing and Quality Management Experience (preferably raw protein experience) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

+ Experienced in USDA and FDA regulations, GMP's, SOP's, with BRC experience preferred.

+ Able to work flexible hours.

+ Although primarily a dayshift position, will be needed to work at times across back shifts and weekends.





**Language Skills**



Bi-lingual a plus.

**Physical Demands**



While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.





**Work Environment**



While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to cold and extreme cold conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
