**Quality Control Technician _East Setauket, NY**


Kelly Services is currently seeking a Quality Control Technician for one of our top clients in East Setauket, NY.


+ **Duration** : approximately 8 months / scheduled end date: 11/30/2021

+ **Pay:** 24.00/hr

+ **Work Hours:** 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri. OT as needed. Ideal schedule 9:00a-5:30pm (but can be 7:00a-3:30p, 8:00a-4:30p)

+ No Medical required

+ PPE all will be provided


**OVERVIEW:**


The position is a unique contract position to work as a QC Technician in both the microbiology and chemistry laboratory. The position will focus on supporting the microbiology lab at first, then will later support a chemistry lab. The site makes intermediates for personal care (such as skin lotions)


**RESPONSIBLITIES:**


+ Collect and test environmental water and air samples from around the facility for both micro and chemistry. Ability to climb ladders and lift 10 pounds required.

+ Test raw materials and final product according to USP for TABC and TYMC

+ Perform follow up testing for five objectionable organisms according to USP

+ Record daily temperature of incubators, freezers, and refrigerators


The candidate will also train on basic chemistry testing for raw materials and stability samples. Testing will include:


+ Basic physical testing such as color, odor, appearance, and loss on drying

+ Basic instrumentation testing using pH meter, viscometer, FTIR, UV/Vis, Karl Fisher, density meter and refractometer.


**REQUIREMENTS:**


+ Ability to climb ladders and lift 10 pounds.

+ Knowledge and understanding of aseptic techniques and cGMPs.

+ Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice, compendial methods such as USP and EP and guidances such as ISO, FDA, and EFfCi.

+ Previous experience working either as a QC microbiologist or QC chemist is preferable.

+ Minimum AA/AS in microbiology, chemistry, or related field and at least 2-year experience, or a BA/BS in microbiology, chemistry, or a related field and at least 1-year experience. Prefer someone with Micro background but willing to learn some basic chemistry.

+ Ability to follow SOPs, document work in a lab notebook and various logbooks in a timely manner

+ Ability to Investigate and properly document any laboratory OOS or environmental excursions, calibrate instruments in preparation for use

+ Must be able to work and communicate well with coworkers , team lead, supervisor, and facility managers.

+ There may be some overtime and flexibility in scheduling required.
