Quality Engineer (Conneaut, Ohio)

Our client, a supplier of high-quality castings, is currently hiring a Quality Engineer.

This position is a Direct Hire role.



Quality Engineers must understand process capability and the use of SPC in monitoring manufacturing processes, and, they must be able to discover and understand the process issues, and develop effective countermeasures including process or product changes when necessary to ensure that quality standards are up-held, and the customers requirements and expectations are met or exceeded.



They will work with the production floor to:

Maintain regular/daily interface with product line manager, supervisor, operators, etc., to identify concerns and support corrective action (for customer concerns, scrap and rework).

Familiar with all types of techniques related to gauging.

Establish/review SPC charting for short-term, and long-term trends.

Assist with low (Cpk) capability, gauging, and tooling issues.

Assist with MRB, PPAP, and Acceptance Standards.

Perform Gage R&R Studies, Capability Studies & gage calibration.

Be Involved with Internal Improvements.

Support Manufacturing Champion meetings.

Lead and/or advise Improvements Teams. o Lead and/or advise changes to the process.



Quality Engineers will also work addressing Customers needs by:

Champion meetings.

Making Problem Resolution Visit to the Customer, facilities, troubleshooting reports and resolving complaints.

Completing Customer Complaint Resolution and Responses (8Ds).

Writing customer contact reports. APQP Documentation.

Relaying changes from customers to Manufacturing.

Working with management on APQP changes.

Keeping acceptance standards and picture books up to date.

Keeping APQP documentation up to date. (Control Plans, PFMEA, Process Flow Diagram, etc.) .

Keeping OCP and written instructions up to date (cell books).

Keeping up to date other existing documents and to develop as required new plans/documents.

Managing customer changes to the product.

Analyzing customer return product and lead/implement corrective actions.

Playing a key role in APQP processes, assist with new product/ process launches.

Preparing PPAPs / FAIRs according to customer & organizational requirements.

Analyzing SPC, inspection & other data in supporting QMS, process, product improvement.

Developing, maintaining, and improving documents related to the QMS- control plans, PFMEAs, etc.



Qualifications:

Tier one Automotive a huge plus (Client is a Tier 3, would love someone that has Tier1 vision).

Basic knowledge of formal quality systems- Background with PPAPS, IATAF Or TS16949 standards (ISO9001, IATF16949 or AS9100 preferred).

Metals, metallurgy, aluminum, or casting background.

Tensile strength and constructive strength testing experience .

Experience developing, implementing and maintaining the systems used to measure, monitor and control product and process quality in the production process.

Implementation and monitoring of process controls such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), and other problem-solving tools such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), 5 Why, 8D, Cause and Effect / Ishikawa diagrams etc., and implementing effective countermeasures to prevent issues from re-occurring.

Solid grasp of quality management tools & methods, including Lean, and other control plans such as- GR&R, PFMEA, 8d, etc.

Thorough understanding of quality principles and product and process evaluation and control.

Must be well versed in the use and application of problem-solving tools, troubleshooting, and process improvement.

Bachelor's or associate degree in the sciences, technology or related field.

3-5 minimum years of related experience.
