Quality Engineer (New Albany, Ohio)

Our client, a Global Leader in Anodized Aluminum, both Packaging, and Decorating of anodized aluminum, is currently hiring a Quality Engineer.

This position is a Direct Hire. Their shop is fully integrated, specializing in design, fabrication, anodizing, metallizing, injection molding, decorating, finishing, and assembly of anodized aluminum and metallized components, including packaging.


The Quality Engineer (QE) will be responsible for the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the quality systems and performance for the assigned production department within the New Albany Plant. The QE will work within a cross-functional team to ensure exceptional levels of product performance as well as use problem-solving techniques to reduce process variation and the cost of non-conformance.

The QE will supervise daily inspection workflow for all jobs running in the department, assign work to Quality Assurance (QA) Inspectors as well as train all QA inspectors and operators regarding customer quality standards, gauging plans, and inspection procedures.


Makes decisions regarding acceptability of lots and disposition of held products or any non-conforming materials.

Leads the analysis and testing process of products and components.

Creates new and maintain existing Syteline data collection system for all dimensional and aesthetic tests. Also conducts SPC through use of Syteline data and train required personnel in usage.

Champions of continuous improvement through the use of DMAIC and Lean methods to reduce process variation and cost of non-conformance.

Gives status reports to all departments, including Planning / Scheduling, Customer Care, Production, and Quality as necessary.

Responsible for set-up approval and communication on all dimensional and aesthetic issues with supplying departments/vendors (new jobs or new production runs).

Ensures proper instrument calibration, gauge control, and document control systems.

Creates and maintains department quality standards and inspection record files. Develop defect standard boards for aesthetic defects and gain customer approvals.

Interacts with suppliers and customers as required.

Develops SOPs, conducts quality systems audits, and performs training of quality procedures and skills as required.


Bachelors degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.

Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment with 2 to 3 years of experience within the quality field preferred.

Demonstrated practical use of quality systems and continuous improvement methods such as six sigma, lean, DOE, statistical data analysis.

Strong communication skills to effectively communicate within the department, with other departments, and externally with vendors or customers as appropriate.

Ability to work in a multi-disciplined team to meet personal and departmental objectives.

Demonstrated ability to manage hourly associates and build collaborative working relationships within the quality department and between functions.

Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong process-orientated problem-solving skills to identify root causes and lead teams to implement counter-measures.

Strong computer skills in Microsoft office suite, statistical data analysis software such as Minitab and ERP systems.
